Feeding frenzy

What a wonderful surprise I came home to the other day. I pulled in my driveway and spotted a flash of yellow from the tree in my front yard. I immediately knew it had to be a gold finch and they are always a welcome sight. I got out of the car and suddenly I realized that there wasn't one but at least a dozen of them.
In this first picture there are 3 on the feeder and 4 on the ground.

Apparently they are quite pleased with the cuisine at this particular establishment because they have been returning. It is a total pleasure to watch them.

I used a texture from Shadowhouse creations and another from Kim Klaussen. It may possibly be a bit on the dark side but I liked it

Oh, my gosh! At first I thought that someone had bought you a birdcage with birds and hung them on the tree for you to see when you got home - they look like domestic pets...how pretty!

Aren't they pretty!? You attracted a bunch of them! Lovely photos too, my dear.

Oh, that is so much fun to have the gold finches. We had them here one time. I cannot put out a bird feeder with all the cats here. I love watching the birds but I am scared the cats will jump up and get them. Great pictures. Hugs to Duke.

Your birdies are so pretty! We don't have goldfinches but we have red ones along with the Chicakdees and I could watch them all day long. Angel and Isabella can too!

The goldfinches are feisty these days and they reprimand you if the feeder is empty. Oh, and if Hobbes goes outside. They do not like orange stripes apparently!

I DO know how to layer, Ann, believe it or not! I have not had the time to use the link you sent me, but I hope to soon when things die down here a bit. :)

That is a cool looking feeder. I'll be sure to NOT let my wife see it, because she would run out and get one :)
The goldfinch have slowed down over here, but for a month or two, they were eating us out of house and home.

country mouse studio they are a beautiful bird.

beaded tail we get the house finches and the chickadees here frequently and they are fun to watch

lin oh no I better go check the feeder :) When Duke goes out they all take off, guess they don't like white either

sweetie a.k.a. Zach :) I'm heading over in a bit

anny oh you would make the cats very happy with a feeder I'm sure

sher aw how sweet. thank you very much

tahtimbo the feeder was a gift from my son. the shop he used to work at made them and they were able to buy them much cheaper than you would get them in the stores

grace well my camera did. I used the old one that has a good zoom on it.

laura I love having my bird feeders but I think I need to move them to spots that are more convenient for taking pictures from the house

fishhawk lol, no they didn't have any buns

dss it was like a little finch convention right there in my front yard

poetic shuterbug well we have the weeds in the yard but you've got me beat with the cement :)

catherine it was a pleasure to share my finches with you especially since I know when yours return you'll share them as well :)

I love your bird pictures! I was just telling my husband we should have more bird feeders!

Sharkbytes (TM) said...

With the bright colors on the feeder too, it looks like even the birds are plastic- a decorative piece!

Ann said...

Gayle. We have two, one in the front yard and one in the back. It's so much fun watching to see what will fly in next.

sharkbytes, hmm, interesting idea. I'll have to check the craft shop for fake birds and then I can get shots of any kind I want...lol
