I had a request to show a close up of the St. Nicholas that I have on my mantel and how could I pass up the opportunity to play with my camera.
I've had this for quite some time. He is actually a tree topper but I never liked him on the top of the tree. He normally sits on a table each year.
Saint Nicholas (in Greek: “Victory of the People”) the common name of a
Lycian saint and Roman Catholic Bishop of Myra in Anatolia (in
modern-day Turkey, though then it was a Greek-speaking Roman Province).
He was born during the third century (around 270 AD) in the village of
Patara. He had a reputation for secret gift-giving, but is now commonly
identified with, and often as, Santa Claus. (taken from listverse.com )
Woof! Woof! GREAT shots. Golden Thanks for sharing. Happy Friday. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
I, too, think he looks so much better showcased by himself than atop a tree.
Love the first photo..and the close-up. He's got a good face!
I like the pictures, and he looks nice where he stand :)
I just love this group of photos Ann! He is kind of similar to the guy that is hanging out in my living room!
Good idea to sit him on the table instead of on top of the tree. Love the details on him and the glittery beard :)
Oh boy....me, a collector of all Santas...would LOVE love that to add to my 100s. He's gorgeous Ann.
A very dapper St Nicholas indeed!
Wishing you a beautiful weekend Ann!
That is a marvelous little thing - so elegant and glamorous and the details - it is a thing of beauty..Lucky you!
thank you, I love him and his beard is a wonder of swirls. that first photo is really good, i love the ART of it all...
Mine is similar and its a tree topper too. He's a handsome Santa too.
Have a terrific day Ann. My best to Duke. :)
That's a very beautiful Santa! Great photos Ann!
Wow, those are some true close-ups! (Is that a booger blocking his left nostril in the third shot?)
That is one gorgeous Santa - you are blessed to have him. sandie
Great decoration. And it would go with any color scheme you wanted to emphasize for Christmas.
It is fun to see an old timey Santa. He is pretty special. Great pictures.
Wow----love that St. Nicholas. He is GORGEOUS.... I have a blog friend who posts different pictures of all of the St. Nicholas Churches around the world. Very interesting.
He's a lovely one!
Yeah, I wouldn't like him on top of the tree either. I'm a traditionalist--its got to be an angel on top.
he's very handsome on the mantel though.
