My version

The other day Sandra sent me a link to a blog that showed a picture of a reusable tote bag that was crocheted from plastic bags.  Well how do you like them apples. I now have something else to blog about because I made a small tote bag years ago crocheting with plastic grocery bags.

I can remember sitting out on the deck cutting my plastic grocery bags in to strips to create my yarn. My neighbor asked me what I was doing and the look on her face when I told her I was going to crochet a purse out of plastic bags was priceless. Her eyes got real big and her response was that sing songy OK  that you get from people when they think you are off your rocker. She told me she wanted to see that when I got done. She was a bit amazed when I showed her this...

This measures about 13" wide by about 11" high. I used it a few times to carry stuff to work and then for a while to tote craft projects from one room to another when I was working on something. Mostly it just hangs on a doorknob in my craft room.

WOW!!!! This is one of the most amazing things you have ever made. Just because it is so unusual and it turned out beautifully! It is a lovely spring purse, and must be strong as well. What a conversation piece! You would be the life of the party if you took this.

I have another blog friend who crochets sleeping mats for the home-less with grocery bags.

I made one once but I didn't like how stretchy it was. Probably should try a different stitch. I did like a door mat I made. It lasted quite a while.

That's a brilliant idea. Can't do much else with them and that's putting them to good use.

I laughed with the off your rocker part. I could see her facial expression.

Have a fabulous day. Big hug to you and tons of scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥

Wow, that's really awesome! We no longer have plastic bags in California. I actually brought some home from my trip to Florida.
