Sold to the lady with the cash

So yesterday I told you I had my daughter's future mother in law post some stuff for sale on Facebook. She uses the Albion area, garage sale site as well as one or two others but I don't know what those are. Grace said, "Now see, asking for some help works, right?" Well yes, it does when you ask the right person. Amy was the second person I asked and not only did she come over the same day I asked her but by the next day I had sold several items.
The first item sold was a glass milk bottle from a local dairy. Not sure if they are still in operation or not. That sold for $10,
Next, I sold a lighter for $2 and a pair of sunglasses for $5
The big sale of the day was the pool steps. She listed them at $150 or best offer and the woman offered $125. When she got here to look at them she asked if I would take less. Without hesitating, I said I didn't want to go lower than the 125. Without further hesitation, she pulled the cash out of her pocket and we carried them out to her truck.

Now to some people, this would be just a little extra spending money. Normally that's how I would have looked at it. Now I see this as finally being able to go to the grocery store. This experience has taught me to never ever take for granted the ability to walk into a store and buy a simple loaf of bread. I'm not complaining about my situation or expecting sympathy I'm just saying it really has been a humbling experience. It's certainly been a lesson is learning to appreciate everything a whole lot more.

wow, that is super to get that much that quick. I went through what you are going through back before I met Bob.. it is something I will never forget.. I feel your pain, so glad you found help... one blog friend used to buy things cheap at goodwill and sell them on line. you may have enough in your house to do really well.. good luck and so glad you asked the right person for help

Well, that was successful idea to purge...and to make some $$ while you are doing it.

You will sort the finances out soon enough. It is a big change, but you will be okay.

I've been where you are. Most of us have at one time or another. You'll find your way because you're smart. You'll do what needs doing. Remember there are people that love you.

Have a blessed day, Ann. Big hug to you and tons of scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥

I'm glad you got some help to turn stuff you don't need into cash! Yay! Groceries are way more important than pool steps. If you open an Etsy shop for more money, be sure to let us know so we can buy from you!

I am so glad you have sold all of this, and found someone who really knows the ropes about selling. I am so sorry to hear you are struggling, Ann!! I know you have so many stresses in your life, yet you are a real inspiration to me.

Several times in my life I've had to chose between keeping a roof over my head or food in my stomach - I always chose the roof! No one is offering sympathy, we are offering empathy - many of us have been here, for whatever reason, and we know how it is.

As Grace said, we are offering empathy.... It's love and compassion from our friends which keeps us putting one foot in front of the other.... You will get there.. Just keep taking those baby steps.

Love and HUGS,
Betsy

Yep worked for me. 10 more mortgage payments and my house is paid off so that will make things eaxier

Yep, I'm a stubborn and determined person so I WILL do this

The pool steps are no longer needed because the pool is trashed. I didn't really USD it much any wahand I don't want to bother with it

Aww thanks Ginny. I guess once I get done having my pity party I've always had the stubbornness and determination to do what needs to be done

Well believe me I appreciate the empathy. All of you have been so supportive and encouraging. I don't know what I would do without my blog pals. As for the food vs roof over my head, yes, I'll choose the roof also. I've been more concerned with making sure Gibbs has food than whether or not I do. Luckily I had enough stored away in the house that I haven't had to go without so far. It may not be my first choice but it's good enough

I live you guys for the love and compassion you've shown me

Thankful for her help in getting the items listed and thankful you could go to the store. We've all had similar things thru the years. As loving friends, we care and share the happy and sad. Praying for you daily. xoxo

So glad you were able to sell some things! Especially those steps! Many times in my life I didn't have money for groceries. . . I think we've all been there - not that hearing that makes it any easier for you. Hang in there. . . praying things get better for you! HUGS
