Well so much for that

I'm having a hard time staying positive when it feels like everything just keeps going down hill. Yesterday I went to the Spectrum store so that I could take a copy of Wade's death certificate and get the account changed into my name. That pretty much went as planned. I asked about changing what I have to save some money and he talked about some options. He said I was paid up until the 20th so I said I would leave it as is for now and get back to him.

Later I decided I just can't afford the cable any more and I would take it down to just the internet. I can't be completely shut off. So I called and told them what I wanted to do. Of course she kept giving me other options that would be less than what the current bill is. I kept responding that I could NOT afford that. Finally she got the message that I didn't want anything more than JUST the internet. Later I went in and turned on the tv thinking I had a few more days since I was paid up till the 20th. WRONG. They shut the cable off right then and there.

I have until the end of the month to get my vehicle inspected. I'm afraid to take it because with the way my luck is going they'll tell me it won't pass without new tires or something else. I will mostl likely just lose it right then and there.

OK, I'm done whining for the day (at least on the blog). As a reward for listening to me, you get Gibbs. He looks kind of sad. I wonder if he's worried about whether or not I plan to cut back on milk bones.

Here's a close up

And a closeup in black and white.

I'm sorry; everything must be so hard now. And Gibbs does look really sad!

before I read the post I said to myself that Gibbs look sad. you two can be sad and comfort each other UNLESS you cut back on the bones... he he… I can't believe they turned it off early. I feel you will be lost without the TV.. basic anyway. you can get a digital antenna that will give you 2 or 3 channels at WM, but then that cost money to... ours was 20.00 I think, it gets 3 channels. plugs in the back of the TV. how big is your monitor on you computer? can you watch things on that? so sorry it is still raining things down on you..

I'm sorry you're having to go through all of this Ann.

My internet and landline are connected, and that's all I have. I watch you-tube for entertainment, and right now am also enjoying a free trial month of Pure Flix. Any news I get is through being online.

I pray that your car will pass inspection.

Love, hugs & prayers ~ FlowerLady

What a hard time it is for you. I'm keeping you in my prayers and hope things go smoothly the rest of the week. Take care of yourself my friend. We all wish we could give you lots of hugs!

I'm sure Gibbs is sensing how you feel.

I don't know what your budget is, but my daughter just signed up for Sling TV and it is $25/month for a bunch of cable channels. She just moved into an apartment and could not afford cable, so she got this instead and is very happy with the channels that you get. It's not you--none of us can afford cable anymore. It's so expensive! We go round and round with removing it.

I hope today is a better day. Hang tough!

I'll be cutting my cable service down to just high-speed internet, next week. You should get a credit on your next bill for the unused services on the current bill (at least that's how Comcast works). If you have other equipment other than a modem, you have to return that. We have so many streaming services and that, coupled with the fact that we can't watch 'live' tv because the signal keeps cutting out, add in the new mobiles, and we just don't need anything but internet. Sling tv is a very good option, we have Hulu Live but that isn't available in too many areas of the country yet. (Any friends available to help figure out the financial end of things?)

The Gibbs photos are super duper...

I'm so sorry everything is so difficult for you now. It's even more difficult because Wade took care of everything. You're treading unfamiliar ground. I hope things work out for you and soon.

Gibbs is so handsome.

I hope you day gets better. Big healing hugs to you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥

Thanks. Gibbs has the sad look down pat

I was considering sling because my daughter has it and likes it but I don't think I can even afford that right now

Yes I do have equipment I have to return to them. There are definitely a lot of options out there for tv. No one that J .ca think of to help with the financial stuff

Thanks. I'm sure it will all work out one way or another

Gibbs does look sad, I'm sure that he can feel that there is a sadness around the house. Sending you a big hug . . . do your best to stay positive, I know that you are strong :)

I'm sorry you have to go through this! Netflix is only about 11 dollars a month and they have tons of shows - tv shows - movies - originals - you can watch on computer or ipad. I watch it way more than cable. Gibbs does look sad! Big HUGS for both of you! Hang in there.

I have considered Netflix. I honestly don't watch tv that much and normally it's more for the noise than the shows.
Gibbs is an expert at the sad look

Hi, Your situation makes me so sad, just like Gibbs looks... I am so sorry that you have to give up your cable--although there are lots of online possibilities for seeing some of your favorite shows.. I love our DirecTV --but it is expensive.

Have you gone through all of Wade's financials? There might be some life insurance policies or 401K's, etc. which you may not have known about. Can you get someone to help you set up a new budget and help you with some of these things? IF we lived closer, George would be happy to help you. I'm so sorry that you are going through this. My heart aches for you.

Love,
Betsy

So many things to deal with but I think you're handling everything really well. I can imagine none of this is easy but I'm proud of you for taking the initiative to take care of yourself and your finances. Now, about those milk bones. The budget for those remains the same, right? :) Gibbs is so cute!

Aw... tell Gibbs we will send milk bones if things get too tough.

Gibbs looks so cute. Sorry they turned it off early. Have you thought about getting just an antenna. I hear that they get some really great signals these days. Hope your car inspection goes well.

Gibbs is darling and of course he is concerned about cutting back on Milk Bones, so just tell him you won't be cutting back there, so he can perk up.

Terra said...

If a family member has Netflix they can add you as an extra user at no cost to you.

Ida said...

Don't worry Gibbs...Milkbones are not on the cut list (right?) - I guess with so much of TV being on the Internet now on things like Hulu and Netflix etc...you probably don't need cable. It is outrageous anymore.
