Going green

Or maybe this is turning over a new leaf. Either way it's the result of me walking around the yard with my camera looking for green leaves.

I don't know what this is. A neighbor gave it to me when she was thinning out her flower beds. She told me at the time but I haven't a clue now.

This one is easy. I tried for years to get hostas to grow in my yard with no success. These were transplants from the house Wade lived in before we were married.

It might be a weed but I liked the look of the leaves.

Years ago, my dad gave me some lupine seeds. Because of something viney that is growing in the same area as these, fewer and fewer come up each year.

Your first plant looks like wild strawberries; we have some. The Hosta leaves are gorgeous! The one after the Hostas will be interesting to see if it blooms. Then you should be able to identify it. This was a great idea, to walk around your yard and show us things, I should do it!

I like them ALL because they are GREEN and my favorite is the WEED. love it... I tried Hostas and a lot of other things, I have a black thumb. bob has the green thumb but not now. he is just not up to caring for the plants and they have all died.

I love hostas but they are particular about where they grow well. It's nice to get starts from neighbors. Enjoy your weekend!

The first one looks like Sedum. Does it bloom in the fall?

There are only 2 kinds of people--those who want hostas and those giving them away.

Third looks like thistle. Does it have a flower? I'd have to see the flower to identify.

I like easy plants in my garden. I have some Lupine, but it dies off quickly. I like to go to the garden center and find new perennials to try each year.

That's a great way of going green. Very pretty.

Have a fabulous day off, Ann. Big hug to you and an extra treat for Gibbs. ♥♥♥

Either is a good title...the one is sedum...but my friend calls it 'Lives Forever.' I never can remember its proper name but recognize it once I hear/see it. That is the first one. The third down is a thistle. Someone that raised and sold hostas told us the more white/light areas they have the better they withstand sun.

I know the first one isn't wild strawberries. I can't remember what she said the name of it was but it wasn't that. I did however notice some wild strawberries growing in my yard while I was out mowing.

I think it might but I really can't remember.
I know someone who was just pulling a ton of hostas out of their yard. She said she hated them.
I'm pretty sure that is a thistle. It's growing under my deck but doesn't have a flower of any kind on it right now.

Yep, let Mother nature do all the work :)

Late summer for thistle blooms. The hotter and dryer, the better for them.

The first plant looks like Sedum, its a sucklant and it blooms in the fall. Mine blooms like 2 weeks before we have our first cold day. There are several different kinds of sedum and it blooms different colors. I have one that blooms a purple/pinky color and one that blooms a rusty red. My mom used to call it Live Forever.....it just keeps living and living and living on! Some of the purple/pinky plants in my yard came with me from my first home and that was 26 yrs ago. I had it for about 5 over there.

I've always loved hostas but we can't grown them here.

doesn't matter what they are officially - it was from what I see here - all about the "colour" (color) and it's always interesting how many "greens" there are out there, if you care to look, along with texture and general overall edge shapes...even ordinary grass varies :-)
