I had a $5 instant lottery ticket to turn in and the machine at work had a brand-new ticket in there that I couldn't help buying. I think I made a good choice since I won $75 off of this ticket

just a few more decorations

I found just a few more decorations to put out before Easter rolls around. I almost forgot about making this sign.

This hasn't come out of the box for several years, and I don't really like it, but I decided to use it this year.

My kitchen window

I took a picture of my kitchen window the other morning before I went to work.

The window sill has another one of those stuffed chicks, my decorated can and a cute glass bunny basket that I got years ago from the dollar store. Hanging in the middle is the bird wind chime that the deli manager gave me for my birthday. I kind of like looking at it here so I don't know if it will ever make it outside.

Birthday gifts

Today I thought I would show you what Amanda and her fiancé gave me for my birthday but first I wanted to answer a few recent questions.

Yesterday Ginny asked if I made the items in the last picture. I did make the paper cut bunny that's sitting on top of the bunny plate but not the plate itself.

Jeanette asked of it was candy in the vase with the flowers. No those are colored Styrofoam balls. Dollar tree had bags of them in with their Easter decorations.

Two days ago there were a lot of comments about how clever I was to come up with that bunny. Truth be told, I got the idea from Pinterest. Someone else came up with the idea and I just copied them.

Ok so on with the gifts. Amanda and Rob did a good job choosing them. Pioneer Woman is a frequent gifts between Amanda and I. They gave me this set of mixing bowls.

This berry colander. 

Amanda said she got me this mug because she's heard me say this before. I can't recall ever saying it but it's true.

Last is this pre-planted begonia pot. I'm not good with plants and I told her I'll probably kill it. She says but the seeds are already in there and all you have to do is add water. Yep, that's the problem. I'll probably kill it. Hopefully I can at least get them to start to grow.

Put on your Easter bonnet

Well, I don't have an Easter bonnet but I did put out my Easter decorations. I have one tote with decorations in it, and when I pulled it out I discovered that I have a whole lot of junkie decorations. I didn't put out much but I did find a few things that I liked.

I probably should have replaced the wolf picture with something more springy.

 

I just love this stuffed chick that I  made a long long time ago. I have two of them but I'm pretty sure that I made more than that.

 

A lttle crafting

I did just a little bit of crafting on my 3 days off. I forgot to take before pictures but I borrowed pictures I found online to show you what I used. It all started with a cheap look tinsel covered bunny head.

(photo from https://www.crazydiymom.com/bunnyears.html)) You unwrap the tinsel from around the form and you end up with the bunny head form on the right in the above picture. Then I wrapped that with jute twine until it was all covered.

Next I took an upside down fishbowl and glued the new bunny head to that. I added the gingham bow and a few flowers. Lastly I took some reindeer moss, fake carrots and flowers, put them on a little dish and covered them with the fishbowl.

Just another day

March 21st used to be a pretty exciting day for me. These days it's just another day. I did appreciate the fact that I got to sleep in and didn't have to head out to work. After a leisurely start to the day I decided to take a drive to a local Lake. It was a beautiful day with temperatures in the low 60s

 

As nice as it was to have the day off it was also a little on the sad side. I spent almost the entire day by myself. It made me realize how few people I have in my life, and it made me feel very alone.

My daughter did come over in the evening with some wonderful gifts that I'll show you in another post. My son managed to sacrifice a few seconds to send a happy birthday text message. Unfortunately no granddaughter visits for me.

lots to talk about

The last couple days have given me quite a bit of blog material. It's way too much to put into one post so I am spreading it out over as many days as needed.

Let's start with Saturday. I decided I would go out and do a little shopping. No shopping trip is complete without a stop at Michaels or Hobby Lobby. This time I was closest to Michaels.

Today is March 21st. 

Today is my birthday. 

Today is a vacation day for me. 

Today is a good day.

One of the girls at work gave me a gift bag full of goodies for my birthday. She included an instant lottery ticket. When I scratched off the winning numbers,what a surprise to discover they were 3 and 21. Now that had to be a lucky ticket right? Well after I scratched it off I discovered that I was indeed a winner. A whole $2

anyone hungry

One of the things that we make a lot of in our deli at work are our two foot family subs. It's a 2-foot French bread with cooked ham, hard salami, provolone cheese, and lettuce. You get all of this for just $8.99

 

Can it.

I opened up a can in the kitchen the other day and just as I was about to throw the empty can in the garbage I changed my mind and set it aside. Leave it to me to save garbage. But in my defense after mod podging some fabric on to it, it now looks rather nice holding some fake daffodils

After I took this picture I actually added to this. I glued on some jute twine at the top and bottom of the can.

A little bit of crafting

Monday I spent most of the day being exceptionally lazy as I just didn't feel like doing much of anything. I did however do a little crafting. I took this sign left over from Halloween

 

And now it's all ready for Easter. I'm absolutely loving the way this one turned out

Sunday morning, bright and early, I pulled into the parking lot at work. There was a truck parked by the back door with a ramp coming off of the back of the truck. I thought maybe the boss was moving some stuff out since he's been working on cleaning out his office. I was surprised when I got inside and found out that it was floor cleaning night. Apparently they had been there all night working on the floors.

 

I just love how bright and shiny they are now

March Weather

 Rose and I recently had an email conversation about Saturday Night Live. She sent me a link to a Steve Martin video and that sent me off looking for John Balushi videos. What better one to share now than the one where they are talking about March weather.

Also, since so many of you were nice enough to go searching for that machine for me I should clarify that what I wanted to purchase was a bundle and that was out of stock. I did a bit of hunting and knew I could get everything I wanted but to buy it all separately it would have cost more than what the advertised bundle was. Thanks for searching for me though. 

just rambling

I can guarantee you that I am not a happy camper this morning. Getting up as early as I do is all that much harder when I lose an hour of sleep. All day long I'm going to be thinking about getting home and laying down on the couch.

Yesterday I really didn't do a whole lot. I managed to get my laundry done, pay some bills and I made a pot of creamy chicken crack soup.

 

Cricut came out with a new machine the other day. It's a mug press designed to press ink on to a mug.  It's a little on the pricey side but since I really haven't been spending much money I was going to treat myself. When I got home and went to the website however, they were already out of stock. That's just about how my luck usually goes

 Yesterday after work I had to do a Walmart trip. By the time I got home, put everything away and fed Gibbs and myself it was time to crash and burn. I must have been really tired because after all the napping I went to bed and never turned the tv off. I got up this morning and wondered what all that light was coming from the living room.

This is the night where we set the clocks ahead an hour and I'm not real thrilled about it. I already get up early enough on Sunday morning so tomorrow it will be like getting up at 3 am. I'm anticipating another crash and burn tomorrow.

For today I have no plans other than I need to do the laundry. Of course I plan on going to bed earlier than normal too.

Funny Friday

Craft project 2

I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this one but it is what it is. First is the sign that I started with 

 

The glittery bunny had previously been removed and used on yesterday's project. Then I peeled off the design that was on this sign. I painted it and added lines to make it look like  wood planks. Then I added some permanent vinyl cutouts and this is what I ended up with. 

 

 

If I were to do this one again the top word would be a different color.  The yellow is rather hard to see even after I outlined the letters with a pencil. 

  

Craft project one

I have two craft projects and today I'm going to show you one. Both projects are redesigned Dollar Tree signs. For the first one I used these two signs

 

There was also a third sign that was a rectangular shape. I also used some fabric and a pre-made carrot that I purchased at Hobby Lobby.

 

 

 

And here is the final result. I used mod podge to glue the fabric to the sign then hot glue the rest of the pieces on. 

Bummer

 What a bummer yesterday was. Mama was home all day long and do you think she could spend any time with me? No. She got up and she drank coffee and played on her computer for at least a couple hours. Then she decided she wanted to be crafty instead of playing with me. It's just not fair

Saturday

My day off on Saturday certainly flew by. It started off with me sleeping in till almost 7. That is so unlike me. Normally on a day off I don't sleep past 6. 

First on the agenda once I had my coffee and blog time was to take care of the taxes. I decided this year I was going to do them myself instead of paying H&R Block. I don't get a very big refund so having to pay someone to do them makes it even smaller. I debated between using the H&R Block website or TurboTax. I ended up going with Turbo Tax. That's what Wade always used. 

Next on the list was the laundry. By the time that was done it was well into the afternoon and I felt like the day was shot. I made some dinner, washed the dishes and cleaned up the kitchen then called it a day.

I can only hope that Today will be more fun. But first I'll need to get some bills paid. 

Friday

Friday I came home from work and there were three boys riding four wheelers in the empty lot next to my house. They were riding through that lot and into the back lot of the doctor's office that is behind me. They had already created a nice muddy track. Now I hate to be a spoilsport but I couldn't help myself. I called the doctor's office to let them know. Shortly after a couple of the women from the doctor's office came out and asked the boys not to ride there anymore. You can see the track they created about the middle of the picture below.

 For the next hour or so they rode straight up and down in the empty lot.

The father knew they were riding their as a matter of fact I even saw him talking to them at one point through the from the door. I honestly don't understand why he let them do this on property that wasn't his own.

I decided to try a new mask pattern. I can't remember the name of the website that I got the pattern from otherwise I would share it here. Anyway I started to make this according to the directions but it got to a point where the fabric was too thick to go through my machine. I had to make a few adjustments and do this my way and it came out pretty good. This of course is the mask folded in half .

 pay no attention to the bad hair. I am way overdue for a haircut and it's always in a ponytail now because it looks so horrible.
