I did go outside for a while and do a little bit of yard work. I cleaned up all the loose branches laying in the yard and a bunch of dead leaves. Then I got those in the burn barrel and taken care of
I'm not quite sure why Wade had piled all those rocks around the bottom of the burn barrel. It ends up making a nice place for all the weeds to hide. I suppose I could move the Rocks but why bother.

Those dandelions are hardy little rascals, aren't they?
i love dandelions and we have lots of weed flowers in all the yards but not dadelions. Bob said his mother used to make him pick them and she cooked the green leaves and they ate them. he was in PA back then.... i am thinking the rocks are a barrier to keep the hot coals in the bottom of the barries from catching the grass on fire. the heat from the barrel kills the grass around it, and gets glowing red, the rocks are perfect. our burn barrel way back in my childhood did not have rocks but Georia sand was packed around it
Dandelions are so good for the bees.. one of their first food sources.
I recently read that dandelions will actually improve your soil and once they've accomplished that they move on. I usually let mine grow because I like the flowers for the bees and for making dandelion honey and the young green leaves make a wonderful salad especially with a hot bacon dressing and now that I've learned that they help the soil there's no reason to get rid of them. ^^
I love all the little dandelions and won't want to mow them down. Glad you mostly caught up on napping. I'm sure you needed it!
I LOVE dandelons! I believe the rocks are there for a good reason. If any embers pop out of the fire, they won't lay on the grass and smoulder. Plus it keeps the bin upright and gives it extra support. I think it looks nice. Few things feel as good as catching up on sleep!
maybe the rocks are there to be sure the barrel doesn't tip over? My grandmother used to make dandelion leave salads I have never done that myself but I recall eating them and they were pretty good!
I'm not a dandelion lover....sorry other commenters! BUT...I am glad you got some sorely needed rest. :)
Another vote for dandelions here. 😊
My first thought about the rocks was to keep the barrel from toppling over.
I would imagine he did it as a safety reason. Maybe so it wouldn't blow over.
