Oh Pool boy

The other day I mentioned that we had worked on the pool. We have a rather odd way of doing it but what can I say, we're odd.
We drain it and scrub it then refill it. Now this seems like a lot of work but I have never had a year where you take the cover off and it's crystal clear ready to go. With the pump we have it would take all summer to clean it up so we just drain and scrub.
By 4:00 p.m. Saturday I was a little on the pink side and felt like I had been wading in pond scum all afternoon but we were done and ready to start filling it back up. Duke had a hand in the work too. He couldn't stand the fact that both Wade and I were down in the pool without him. He stepped onto the ladder then jumped in.

Needless to say, Duke is very happy that the pool is almost ready. He watched the hose and prayed for it to fill faster. Yes, we do fill it with the hose. It's actually cheaper than having water hauled in.

Happy pool boy waiting for his first dip.
Now if we can just get that great big ball of sunshine to stay up there in the sky, the water might warm up enough that I'll join Duke.

I've been waiting for this post. I knew the pool and Duke would come together shortly. Good for him. I can see that he's ready.

Have a terrific day. My best to my Awww...Mondays star of the week. :)

Glad Duke enjoys his swim. I don't think Gizzy would like it. He's not a water dog at all...in fact, when I take him to the beach and we walk on the sand near the ocean, he pulls towards the shore like he's afraid the big water is going to lap him up LOL

I've heard of other people doing it that way, but they were professionals because that takes a lot of work and energy, but I'm sure the end result is way cleaner water...does Duke mind the chlorine? I'm sure you rinse him off after - does his fur change color from the chlorine?

We have never had our westies in our pool ... but then again - we don't even use our pool - I put chemicals in once a week and that's it ... it does look pretty with the water feature ... enjoy your pool!

I'm glad to see that you scrub and refill it!!! When we lived in apartments, they used to do that. But then they started not refilling it every summer, they shocked it!!! People are doing that nowadays, and I don't know how it works, but I wouldn't want to go in the same water year after year!

We have been patiently waiting for you to get your pool ready before coming down here to work on ours. We really wish you would hurry up.

Oh, I wish we had one! We are almost completely surrounded by people with pools in our area, but none for us *sigh*. That's one of those things I gave up to have the four-legged furballs (and it was worth it, but I still wish for one sometimes :o)
Enjoy!

You are looking good Duke. Claudia does not like the water. She even goes around water puddles. The pool is going so it is now officially fun in the Sun time.

How nice of you to get the pool ready for Duke!

We opened ours two weeks ago but still have cold weather. But it's ready when the weather gets hot.

It is a huge ordeal isn't it?

I was surprised to find my neighbours vacuuming the pool last week. They never got a shock either.

Oh Ann! You and your pool and me and my pond and the puddles after the rain. Perhaps you'd consider a swap? Well, I can see why you wouldn'd ... wonder if I could get away with dangling my feet into the pond with the fishes and the frogs!!

Does he jump in it with cold water? Gosh Disco was shivering this am with the a/c - lol. Looks so inviting.

That sounds like a good way of doing it (those chemicals are VERY expensive to get). Actually, when I was growing up, we had a swimming pool down the block and I remember they did it this way every year. I remember, because it was so cool to see the park flooded and to see the pool without water. Ah, memories!
I can just imagine that Duke is primed and ready for the summer to start.

I wish it would warm up too! It really hasn't been pool weather. It looks like Duke doesn't care he just wants to go swimming.
