disgruntled

I am a very unhappy consumer right now. In the past two years I've bought not one but two kodak all in one printers (same model). In less than a year the first one stopped working and I went out and bought another one. Now the second one is giving me problems. I was trying to print out a black and white document and the print was barely visible. I went through the whole maintenance thing, did the troubleshooting online and according to their web site, they determined that I needed a new print head. Put in my information and lo and behold the printer is not under warranty but they will gladly sell me a replacement print head.

Well do you know what I say?
Kodak, your printer is not worth.....

...a hill of beans and I refuse to spend another dime on it.

So tell me, what kind of printer do you use and are you happy with it?

We have had HP Printers forever...and I really mean forever...they tell us they are not compatible with the new desktops and laptops...but we have managed to continue to use them! We just download new drivers from the HP site...and voila! Love both my old 5550 and my PhotoSmart 7350! I have been threatening to get the little Canon Photo Printer because it is tiny and convenient to carry around...but I haven't splurged on it...

I had the exact same problem with my old Canon printer. It broke down after a year. I got it fixed at great expense and then after only a short while it broke completely!
I have a Samsung laser printer now...

I have an HP Laserjet, which makes beautiful b&w s only - and for colour I have an Epson, which I am also delighted with.
sorry you've had so much trouble with yours.x

I had been thinking about getting a Kodak printer because of supposedly having a much greater ink capacity at a much more reasonable price, but I thought they went out of business. In any event, thanks for the warning!

We have been using a Dell printer for the last few years. I just had to hook up the new one we got for just $49.00 (I think) when we had to get our new computer last summer. As what should be expected, the last ink cartridge we had left for the old one ran out right in the middle of copying a bunch of "stuff" for the fine people in the Social Security Administration. The old one worked wonderfully for as long as we could keep ink in it.

I haven't got serious about looking into it yet, but continuous ink systems sound promising.

I had the same issue. My hubby went out and bought me a new Kodak printer when they first came out. My father worked for Kodak for years and I grew up in Rochester.
Sorry, I get side tracked easily.
I went out and bought an Epson - and I only paid $25.00 for it at a sale in Target 2 years ago. It's the BEST printer I've ever owned. The paper goes in the back and out the front so it doesn't have to curl around the printer head. I wanted this because of the crafts I do.
It also has GREAT ink for photos - I do a lot of photos and make cards out of my photos and it has wonderful color. I still use my Kodak print function but on the Epson printer.
Yes, I have to pay more for ink in the long run because any printer that is set to be photo quality will eat up ink. But for me, it's totally worth it. I LOVE my $25.00 Epson NX125!!!!

My Kodak all in one is 4 years old, maybe older - never had a problem. Got tired of HP crap (once HP was the primo printer but now they build in the obsolescence) - so I can't help you. The Kodak is slow but the ink is cheaper and I have never had a problem...it's networked, works with the MACs and the Windows machines - I love mine...

Dear Ann ... sorry to hear about your printer problems - we have HP printers in this house and so far, so good.

There has to be a website that reviews printers - so good luck with a search for a new one.

Have a great Sunday - keep warm and toasty.

We have Epson printers. We have two Artisan 730s for everyday use and also the big R2880 for printing out photo enlargements. We've had other brands, but Epson is the best in our book for the quality of prints and low cost of ownership. I recently had to replace my old Artisan model after about 4 years of very heavy use (Remember all the consulting work I did from home? I went through about 3-4 boxes of paper during that period. The print head finally died.) The ink cartridges last longer than HP or other brands. No recycling the old cartridges though.

B&H Photo in NY has the absolutely best prices on printers and ink. Free shipping & no sales tax for you in PA. I'd appreciate it if you would use the link on my blog's sidebar because I am an affiliate of B&H. We've been doing business with them for decades. I also have convenient B&H links to our particular printer models over in " my photo gear" blog page (link on sidebar).

We've had HP printers for years and we use them big time. Big time. We just purchased an HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus and it's the best printer I've ever had.

Sorry you purchase a piece of dodo twice.

Have a terrific day. My best to Duke. ☺

We recently bought a Samsung laser printer that prints in just black and white. Toner is a lot less expensive than ink and I don't print photos at home so it is okay.

Ann, I've had an my HP Pac 1210v for several years. It's an all-in-one and have never had a problem. Sorry your Kodak has gone caput.

I hate companies that do not stand behind their product! I actually have had the best luck with my Canon printer. The one I have now is 5 years old and works perfectly still. I've had a Lexmark (garbage) and do have an Epson that was 'free' when I bought my iMac 3 years ago. It's OK for printing documents but crappy for printing photos.

Good luck!

I read Consumer Reports or go online to Consumer Search when buying things like this. I have always found Canon to be great, and highly reviewed by the experts.

I dunno. We keep getting new ones and I'm never really happy with them. I have an HP Photosmart Premium and it's alright, except one day it just decided that I can't do anything from the touchpad on the front, I have to go into the computer to do anything. I used to like to be able to turn it on and make copies without having to turn on the computer too. Ugh.

I think they make stuff so poorly now just to drive us crazy.

We have HP's too! Never had any problems with them and they are all getting pretty old. The oldest is like 6-ish years and the youngest 3 - 4.

We have a Brothers printer that is ink jet and has wifi. We've been happy with it. We don't print photos. I always send my orders to Wal-mart online a pick them up at the store. I wouldn't buy another Kodak product. Good luck!

Hi Ann, We have HP's --and have had good luck with them for a few years... They are both HP Photosmarts... G's is older than mine --but both seem to work well (and they are not terribly expensive). Good Luck!

We've been in Arkansas this week enjoying some time at gorgeous Mt. Nebo. Hope you had a good week.

Hugs,
Betsy

I can relate. I have always used Lexmark and they have always given me problems, not to mention the ink is so expensive, it wasn't even worth buying it. I finally just got rid of my printers altogether and don't use them. When I want something printed, I'll forward it to my work and print it there.

Sorry about the printer....but I am glad you asked the question. I will be looking for a printer soon and have no idea what to get. You have a lot of nice options to look into from commenters.
