Readers, not just for reading

One of the worst things about getting older has been that my eyes just aren't what they used to be. I can still read ok without glasses so long as the print isn't extremely small but no way can I possibly thread a needle anymore without glasses.

I had to buy one of those cords for my glasses because I kept putting them down and forgetting where I laid them. I spent more time hunting for my glasses than I did on the projects I was working on.

Right now I'm stitching another candle mat. I've made this one before but I had given it to a friend for Christmas so I thought I would make another one.

Cute little candle mat Ann! I don't blame you for wanting one for yourself!

I wear glasses all day long...except for reading. Then I have to take them off. As for threading a needle...if I get about 2 inches away it I can thread it. But it sure is getting tougher and tougher to do.

Ah...getting old...love it!

I need my specs for TV but my optician assures me it won't be long until I need them for everything as my sight is going downhill too :-(
Love your new stitchery project - stars are my favorite!

Your candle mat is pretty!

By the way, I need those cords too... unfortunately, I need a new prescription (yuck) and as silly as it sounds, I have to coordinate when I can go around everything else going on in my life :-)

Have a great weekend!
Hugs, antonella :-)

so can you make a candle mat with your new machine? i like this one, these could also be for sitting cups on.. or a vase... i like the photo of your glasses, and i wore those around my neck for about 10 years, then alas, the glasses have to be on when i step out of bed and off when i hit the pillow... enjoy them hanging wile you can.

I have to take my glasses off for close work but I still need one of those little needle threaders on the rare occasions I actually sew something - Matter of fact I have ALWAYS needed one - even when I was young with 20/20 vision.

My mom is always losing her glasses. That's a cute creation. :)

I fought getting bifocals, but find they do help many times.

I love the mat! Sweet embroidery! Now only if I can find one of those cords for a coffee cup...I must lose 2 or 3 a day!

Right before I go to sleep at night I take my glasses off, and when I wake up they go right back on. They stay on (except for my shower) all day long. If they aren't on I can't see worth diddly. Bugger.

Have a terrific day. My best to Duke. ☺

I need glasses for reading certain things. One of the things I love about my tablet is that I can make the print as large as I like.

I had no idea just how extraordinary my eyesight was before it started fading. Sigh.

I have to take my contacts out when I do beadweaving because I can't see close up with them anymore but then of course I can't see far away without them. It's so frustrating!

My vision is 20/400 without my glasses, so I can NEVER put them down. I really need to wear them in the shower!

I too have to wear my glasses all the time so don't have to worry about where I put them. Or I would lose them for sure.
Love your candle mat. That looks terrific. Take care and have a great week end.

Make sure you have really good lighting.. That helps. Talk about having trouble seeing???? I really do---yet my eye doctor says that there's nothing wrong other than OLD AGE... Thanks alot!!!!

Hope you have a good weekend. We finally got some SNOW this morning... Yeah!!! BUT--it was 10 degrees when I got up early today...

Hugs,
Betsy

Gracious me, but I keep reading glasses all over the house. Even a pair in my purse! I think I have 5 of them. And I'm always looking for them, LOL. In my studio, I have them tethered like you show in the photo.

Hey, I have good news for you and just sent you an e-mail. ~giggle~

I have got to the stage where i have to wear my glasses all the time. You'd think this would solve the problem of losing them but it really doesn't as when I come in on a cold day I have to take them off whilst they un-steam and then i can never remember where I put them. I actually have a couple of spare pairs, one for decorating and one which I wear for reading in bed...those are a kind of a funny shape as I often fall asleep wearing them!!

I just got my first pair of glasses for reading. My whole family has needed glasses for distance. So now I have TWO pair of glasses. What a pain that is. I am thinking bifocals just might not be so bad.
