A little push goes a long way

Since I started giving myself a little push every day to try and get things done around here, I've been accomplishing a lot more than I used to. I may not do a ton of stuff but every day I do at least a little something.

Sunday when I got home from work I went out to the front yard and started working on cleaning it up a bit.

This is around the tree in my front yard.
The before

and the after

You'll notice Gibbs there on the left barking like a maniac at the little boy riding his bike.

When I got that done I moved on to that area between my house and the sidewalk. This is the part I showed a wee bit of the other day.

The before

and the after

It still needs some work but most of the weeds are out of there. If I were to show you the entire front of my house you would see that my house has absolutely NO curb appeal. I'm not good at gardening or landscaping and it's really lacking. Maybe that's something I'll work on fixing in the future.

What a huge difference!! How long did it take to do that? I got a huge laugh from Gibbs barking at the boy, so funny!!!

Getting out & good yard labor is great for working muscles you didn't know you had! Just don't over do. I bet Gibbs really enjoys having you home!!

the afters are great and I can see you did a ton of work, or it is to me. you said a little each day, this looks like a lot. I am not good at curb appeal either and if someoned did it for me, and then I had to keep it, it would soon be right back where it is. I rather keep my computer screen with monitor appeal. he he he.... keep on working, its good for looks and exercise.

You have done good! As talented as you are with your crafts, I bet you could do curb appeal big time if you set your mind to it. You are so creative.

Yard work is hard work, that's all I've got to say...some folks are good at gardening, some folks couldn't care less but I think we all like the results of the hard work...even more so when we don't have to do it LOL

I love something that comes back every year and with tons of color...Vinca. Easy to grow here, what grows well there and is perennial?
Yard looks better! Well done on pushing yourself...I have to push myself as well...

Looks great! You must have worked on that for a while. The side with the flag looks fantastic!

Looking good and Gibbs kept you safe. He's a good boy. I don't do yard work. Not my cup of tea at all. I'd hire it out if hubby didn't do it. I'm much rather clean the toilets than do yard work.

Have a fabulous day, Ann. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥

You made a huge difference and I'm sure it feels good to have it all cleared out. If you don't like gardening you should talk to a gardener and get some tips for easy care plants in your area. That and use Preen, it's something that you sprinkle on the ground and it prevents the weeds from coming back after you pull them. It lasts for 3 or 4 months, so it pretty much makes weed pulling a once a year thing. I've used it in flower beds at our old house and it works great. Now that I plant an organic garden I don't use it anymore, but it is a great product and saves hours of work.

Looks way better! I do not like yard work but I do like the results. Things grow like crazy here so it's a never ending task.

Wow, that's a lot of weeding to do in one day! I'm impressed!

I'm not really sure how long I was out there. It'll probably get overgrown again before I get out to work on it again...lol

thanks

Gibbs is always happy when he's not home alone. It seems like no matter how much work I do out in the yard, I end up achy and tired afterwards

It is and it's work that I'm not fond of doing. My dad was amazing with his gardens and yard but I didn't inherit that from him

Ann said...

Thanks. It still needs a lot of work

Ann said...

It's not my cup of tea either...lol Maybe in the future I'll find someone else to do it for me

That's the thing, it's never ending.

and still way more left too

Now that's a LOT of work represented right there! Little bits at a time get the whole job done eventually. When I go outside I **have to** put blinders on so that I stay focused on the one task I have in mind to get done. Otherwise I get distracted and see everything that needs to be done... and then get discouraged. I love seeing these before-and-after pictures! Love, Andrea xoxo

It looks GREAT, Ann!

Well...okay....as usual, I will be the oddball. I love working out in the yard because it is so rewarding. You get a little exercise, work up a little sweat and then you can enjoy how lovely it looks when you are done.

Key to weeds is to put down mulch and plants that do not require much care. When the plants take hold, the weeds are minimal.

Gibbs photo bombing while be barks! haha...looks good. I know those weeds jump in and take over so fast. Faster then I move these days! haha. Great job. Stay calm and push on.

Both spaces look good! I'm horrible at yard work and I hate it. :) Haha Gibbs he's so cute.

You and me both. That's why I took out the flower beds that I had. I hate weeding and taking care of them. I need to hire a gardener

I bet if I were to look out there now I would see that a lot of them have grown back alreayd
