I picked up the mail and found two identical post cards. They were from the local newspaper trying to get people to subscribe. Would you believe that neither one was addressed to me. One was addressed to Wade and the other was addressed to my ex husband. Now Wade I can understand but the ex hasn't lived here since some time around the turn of the century.
My favorite is the local volunteer fire department. They send out letters every year for their fund drive and want you to pay a membership fee. Well every year it is addressed to my ex. I figure if they want money from me they better send the letter addressed to me. Then again if I need a ride in an ambulance it'll cost me since I don't send them the money.
That's it for today. Not even a picture to go with the post. Can you tell I'm feeling lazy?

Interesting though. If you need an ambulance, it will cost you even if you donate.
Hurray for laziness! You work plenty at your job and shouldn't force yourself in your time off.
I used to give to a charity and didn't mind that they addressed the pleas to both Andy and me, but then they started sending him letters thanking him for his loyalty. Say what? I told them I was the donor but they couldn't be bothered to respond, so I dropped them.
Here, it's part of the property tax that pays for fire trucks/ambulance calls.
I swear...we still get mail from places with nothing but advertising... addressed to a previous owner that died 20 years ago. My favorite is current resident.
It is okay to have a lazy day...I was going to do a post last night with no photo but honest to goodness was too lazy! And a bit on the tired side, too!
it is really rare for me to post without a photo. i don't know why, but i find it hard to do. and it really is OK, and this post has hit a sore spot for me. this happens all the time. i opened our charge, i opened our checking and savings. bob has never written a check or paid a bill, all communication comes to his name, i even asked the bank to change it and she said they could not... i opened every account for water and power and phone and wif fi... all bills all communications come to him. it infuriated me
my dad never lived here, but the last year of his life spent in a nursing home, this was his address for paper work. He died in 2006 and we get mail to him, we get mail to my son who never lived here, we even got a letter to Bob's deceased 40 years wife and one addressed to his old girlfrend that lived with him in St Pete before me
I'm with Anni....why are they soliciting you for village/city services? Don't your taxes already pay for that?? I never give to the local police/fire/emergency. I pay enough and there is enough corruption to pay for that stuff 10 times over.
Those mailing lists are never updated, unfortunately. I STILL get mail for the people we bought the house from 30 years ago!
Wow, that's crazy! Seriously, if you don't donate they charge you for an ambulance?
You need a day off and tomorrow that will happen. It's hard for people to know who lives where so they try for everyone they have and hope for the best.
Have a fabulous day, Ann. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥
Those ads are annoying to me too, Ann... especially the ones supposedly from the firefighters & police, on the phone, trying to raise money for some fundraiser. It's always a male telemarketer because they want you to think it's actually a firefighter or police officer calling. My mom (RIP) used to give to them all the time so now, when I answer the phone, they ask for her. I tell them "No, I'm sorry but my mother is dead" sometimes they say they're sorry and sometimes they don't say anything and just go right into their schpeel. At that point I hang up! Love, Andrea xoxo
They really need to update their database!
Most of these types of mailing lists are taken from public records/property listings etc. So whichever name is listed first, they get the junk mail. (Unless the picture is part of what you are writing about I see no need for one. We're all big now, we can read all the words!)
Oh well.
You know that's what I think too and since I live alone who is going to care if I'm lazy...lol
I guess it's still a mans world
For the amount we pay in property tax it should cover it.
Nope, apparently our taxes go to pay the over compensated borough employees.
Yeah for days off. I've been thinking more and more lately that I need to take some vacation days
it would be nice but I doubt it will happen
The house has been in my name only since my ex and I were divorced. The borough office has me alone listed as the property owner. If they are using public records they are using a very old list.
Most of those mail "buy from us/help us" are address to The Householder ....
And the householder is me. When I was divorced I got the house and everything was in my name alone. When Wade and I got married it stayed that way. He was never listed. Even the bourough office has me listed as the property owner.
