Boom Bang

Saturday night I stayed up late so that I could watch the fireworks. The little town I live in has been doing a pretty good fireworks display for the 4th for several years now. I sit out on the deck and get a pretty good view.

I started to try and take pictures of them but then decided a video would be better. I actually took several short videos and I won't bore you with all of them but here is one.

Ginny left me the following comment yesterday
I really like this post, I can tell you put a lot of thought and time into it. Will you be off? Will Presely get to see fireworks? Will Gibbs be scard of them? Perhaps I need to tune in tomorrow for the answers.

Yes, I did have the day off. I wasn't expecting to because Sunday is my usual day to work so it was a nice surprise when I saw that I didn't have to work it. I have no idea what Presley will be doing. I haven't seen her since Christmas. Last year before Christmas I made a comment that apparently didn't sit well with Presley's mother and my son isn't much for keeping in contact or bringing his daughter around to see me.
Gibbs isn't bothered by the fireworks at all. I don't think I have ever had a dog who was.

I am so sorry about Presely! No matter how she felt about what you said, she should not keep a child from it's grandmother, because that punishes you both. To a child, Grandparents are one of the best things in life. And now I guess I should keep my mouth (fingers?) shut. Your video came out really good, and you had a great view!

I am sorry to hear about your grandson Ann and sure hope you will see him soon. I enjoyed your video. I will remember that. Our neighbors were setting off some real pretty fireworks last night but I didn’t think to take a video. Great idea!

I'm sorry about Presley's mom not letting you see Presley. That's a shame.

Great fireworks. We seen a few on the street last night, but we don't go out of our way to watch the fireworks anymore.

I'm glad Gibbs isn't bothered by the fireworks.

Have a fabulous day, Ann. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥

I'm glad you had the day off, nice surprise! Great video, you do have a nice view of the fireworks. I'm so sorry you haven't been able to see Presley, that really sucks. I'm glad Gibbs isn't afraid of the fireworks, lots of pets are terrified.

I have not watched fireworks in years. I usually just stayed in and sat with Dakota. Now I do it with Chey. Matter of fact I just looked it up and the last time was in Calif when I was there for the 4th with my son, that was 2013. Crazy...there were folks on the street, two doors up going to town. Chey and I stayed in the bed, fan on, tv on (a bit louder then normal) .....and drowned out a lot of the noise. We had 350 Thousand folks in downtown watching the show...more then in the past, making up for last yr., I guess.

I'm sorry you haven't seen Presley! I agree with Ginny! No matter how the parent feels it's not right to deprive your child of their grandparent! I hope she comes around soon or at least your son wises up! Nice view of the fireworks!

I'm so sorry about the whole thing with little Presley and her mom. Family dynamics can be sooooo complicated! Could you get in contact with your son and tell him you miss seeing Presley? Maybe he'll bring her around.

You have a really *wonderful* view of the fireworks, Ann, right there in the comfort of your own property. I think that's great! Thanks for sharing some of them with us. I'm glad you were off work on Sunday... a nice surprise indeed. What's also nice is that Gibbs isn't affected by firecrackers & fireworks. What a tough doggie! :-) Like his mama!!

I’m so sorry about Presley…I was wondering about that. 🙁. I’m glad you had the day off and that you could watch the fireworks without having to brave crowds, and that Gibbs isn’t bothered by the noise.

oh you got your phone out - and made a video of the fireworks, I still have to master my new phone. That was a great that your rostered day was a "day off" so you could just enjoy and not hustle the customers who forgot to get xyz food/drink for their July 4th night.

I'm with everyone else on the Presley and her Mom - that's not good at all...

You're blessed with such a good view right from your very own deck. Thank you for sharing the video.

How nice to be able to see the fireworks show from you own home. Our city decided to cancel the big fireworks show due to excessive heat and dry conditions recently. Which was dumb because they shoot them off near a creek and they could have watered the fields down beforehand. We were asked to not set off personal fireworks either but if you felt you had too to be cautious. We set some off in our driveway but nothing that went up super high. We were responsible with them.

So sorry to hear that you haven't seen Presley since Christmas. I hate it when parents act like that. - Who are they hurting, their child.

Good to know Gibbs wasn't bothered by the fireworks. One of our cats hid behind the couch but that's about it. - But boy was there a huge debate on FB in our area about setting off fireworks. Lots of name calling etc...it was ridiculous.

I wouldn't drive anywhere to watch fireworks these days, but we only have to sit out front for our town's display. Glad Gibbs wasn't bothered by them. Our son's dog was a wreck and he and my husband were inside comforting her.
I'm sorry you haven't seen Presley. :(

I loved your video. Oh it is sad when phamily differences making for sad times. Many prayers for each one. Our puppies and the cats were afraid. Except our visit Franklin. He was just chilling inside. There was lots of commotion from people shooting their own fireworks. But rest finally came for all of us. Sigh
