Flowers for my friends

It's Friday and I'm feeling rather generous today. I have flowers for all my wonderful friends.

Earth laughs in flowers.  ~Ralph Waldo Emerson, "Hamatreya"

Flowers are the sweetest things God ever made, and forgot to put a soul into.  ~Henry Beecher, Life Thoughts, 1858

I will be the gladdest thing
Under the sun!
I will touch a hundred flowers
And not pick one.
~Edna St. Vincent Millay, "Afternoon on a Hill"

And finally, this last one made me laugh.
Why do people give each other flowers?  To celebrate various important occasions, they're killing living creatures?  Why restrict it to plants?  "Sweetheart, let's make up.  Have this deceased squirrel."  ~The Washington Post

Love flowers blooming in the garden. A big bunch in a vase is beautiful too...but I see the point of that last quote. Sort of. I laughed at that one too!

Think I'll send flowers to The Washington Post today. I think they need a softer heart and perhaps flowers would help... oh wait... we have a dead gopher in the back yard that should suffice. I'll just put a bow on it and Fed Ex it to them. LOL

Flowers usually make some of my favorite photos, like yours. But I don't feel that I ever take enough time to take good ones of my own.
