Bad dog

I've never had much of a problem with Gibbs chewing on things. I can't recall one pair of shoes that he ever ruined. He has however occasionally grabbed a washcloth or paper items.
Perhaps his favorite thing to do is to jump up in my lap and climb onto my desk to see if there's anything interesting he can steal. If he jumps back down quickly, I know he found something. Usually it's a water bottle cap or a note I left laying.

The other day I had been using my sewing machine and I had to change the bobbin. Instead of putting the other bobbin away I left it sit. You guessed it, Gibbs found it. I heard a crunching noise and when I turned around I see a thread sticking out of his mouth. He was not about to give it up. I had to bribe him with a treat to trade me for the bobbin.

Bad Dog!!!

Oh my gosh, that could have been a disaster. Strings can wrap around the intestines. Yes, I am guilty of watching a whole lot of vet shows. So glad that you caught it right away! And quick thinking with the treat bribe! My first dog chewed up a double edged razor blade, and we never saw even one cut in his mouth. He also ate the head off my Paul McCartney doll.

Amazing that he didn't swalliw it

I am so happy he did not accidently swallow it, I do know thread is expensive now, but so is a trip to the vet... you might remember when Baby chewed my drivers license and it cost me 38 dollars to get a new one. Max ate a 125.00 check from my dad, and a 20 dollar bill.. I agree with Ginny about quick thinking on the treat exchange.

So good that he didn't swallow that thing. Pet proofing the house is more complicated than child proofing a house - and at least the kid grows up and stops getting into things, pets never do!

He's not a bad dog. They get into things if we don't put them away properly. It's the way they roll.

Have a fabulous day, Ann. Big hug to you and tons of scritches to the good pup, Gibbs. ❤❤❤

Thank Cod you caught him in time! Lexi will chew anything so we have to watch her like a hawk. Her teeth are coming in and I wish they'd hurry up because she's a handful! She used to eat rocks, as in swallow them!, but thankfully she hasn't done that in awhile. I found out she learned that from her mom, Pippi, along with many of her other bad habits. *sigh*

Bad boy! That's funny that he jumps on your desk to look for something to steal.

The string wrapping around intestines is the first thing I thought of when I saw the thread hanging out of his mouth. I had a bit of a panic attack

He probably would have had I not caught him as soon as I did

He probably would have swallowed it had I not caught him when I did. Good thing he was chopping on it pretty loud

They sure know how to keep you on your toes.

Gibbs has never chewed on much but he has the occasional oddball thing he finds that he thinks is wonderful. I've heard of dogs eating rocks before. Can't imagine why they would think they were good.

Gibbs sounds like Lily Bit with stealing things and running...however it comes to chewing things that would be Dakota...nothing major but the other day it was one of Lily’s toys!

What the heck? Why? Why would he go for THAT??! Criminy. Glad you caught it in time.

He should have been named bandit with the way he steals things. At least he leaves my shoes alone

I think he mag have thought it was a bottle cap since those are about the same size. Don't ask me why but he is obsessed with bottle caps. He waits and watches to see if I'm going to take the top off and set it down
