Day two

I forgot to turn my alarm off so it went off at its usual time and I shut it off. I went back to sleep and a little before six I woke up panicked because I thought I was late for work. Once I realized all was well I went and got a cup of coffee and settled in front of the computer. Around 6:30 the phone rang. Looking at the caller ID I had a funny feeling I knew what was coming.

I hear the boss ask if this was Ann and when I said yes he asked me what I was doing. UH OH! Why I'm sitting here drinking coffee. Next he asks if I want to come in to work because the meat wrapper walked out yesterday and he wanted some help in the meat room. Right now the boss is also the meat cutter since the one we had quit a while back. So being the wonderful employee I am I said that I really didn't want to but I would. After all it is over time and the extra cash in my paycheck would be nice.

I snapped a quick picture while the boss wasn't looking.

I was there from 8:00 am until 1:15pm. It wasn't too terribly long and like I said it's all over time.

Well, that's not too bad. A nice compromise. And you still got to spend the rest of the day at home.

What a shame you were called in on your day off. But, as you said...overtime pay.

glad it was only 5 hours out of your DAY off... money is always good, but I do remember when I worked I treasured time off more than money..... hugs

Your boss should just make you a partner in the business and have done with it!

Well, a couple of hours isn't too bad--didn't really ruin your day...AND you made some sweet change in the mean time. It's nice that they offer you the overtime. No...really....I'm sure they can't just call anyone and count on them. Says a LOT about you, Ann. Nice work!

Well I thought you had two days off in a row and I was wrong about that. You're right about the extra cash though. That's always nice and I'm guessing he knows you need it.

Have a fabulous day, Ann. Big hug to you and lots of woofs to Gibbs. ♥♥♥

Whatever makes you happy and works in your life, Ann. I'm sure if you would have loathed the idea, you would have said "no" and gone on with your coffee. The extra cash is always nice. Love, Andrea xoxo

Yep, it killed the roll I was on though and once I got home I didn't do a thing

Yeah that OT is quite appealing

LOL, I don't think I would want the hassle of that.

There are a lot of people who say they'll work any time but the minute you call them to see if they can come in they have an excuse. Me, I figure if I'm really not doing anything special, why not

He does know my situation and he was very helpful while I was paying off the last of the mortgage. He let me have extra hours the whole time

The funny thing is that when he asked if I wanted to come in I told him no, not really but I will any way...lol

I hope that you can take that overtime money and treat yourself to something that you wouldn't normally buy or do. Maybe on your next day off :)

He sounds like a good boss and is probably grateful to have you. And it didn't take the whole day. The other things you would have done can wait.

Speaking of alarms my husbands alarm went off after we had a 19 hours power outage last week. It hadn't gone off in a year. He couldn't even remember how to fix it and ended up googling it....LOL! So sorry about the call but it will be nice to see the extra money in your paycheck.

He really is and I enjoy working there. Absolutely on the other things, I mean they've been waiting for me to take care of them this long what's a little longer

You're a much better employee than I am, uh, than I was now that I'm retired! I have that loyalty bug too but when it comes to work, I like my time off way too much.

Well at least you were up and drinking coffee and was not waken to the phone ringing. Yep, going in on your day off is not fun. My days of working have basically gone to Monday....and just Monday. Things always slow down in the office this time of yr. Senators and Reps are out for the summer so the photographers might have enough to do but not me. Just remember when the pay check comes in...it was worth going in!!! :)

I agree with Pam.. at least you were up...and you could have said no...he asked instead of demanded.
