Just stuff

The humidity continues to be high around here and the few rain showers we've gotten have been a welcome treat. I'm sitting here now wishing for a cool breeze to come through my window and inhaling the scent of someone grilling burgers.

Oh that reminds me, on the 4th I grilled hot dogs for me and Gibbs plus I made some macaroni salad and a couple deviled eggs and baked beans. I didn't want to dirty any more dishes and the only paper plates I had were leftover from Christmas. So it was a 4th of Christmas in July dinner.

Oh and I had another cake to do at work. This was on the 4th and they asked if I could put a flag on it. Then they said, you know red and white stripes. Good thing they told me because I've only lived in this country all my life and maybe I didn't know what our flag looked like.

Seeing your paper plate made me think, maybe I should go to the pound shop and buy few packs, save all that washing up. lol

Great way to put a flag on the cake...and you might as well use the Christmas plates! They just add the holiday feel.

That is a great cake! I admire people who live alone and still cook for themselves. All the years I lived alone I rarely made myself anything more than an egg sandwich (which I ate standing over the sink). Of course that was in the days before microwaves, I guess if I ever live alone again I'll just live on whatever I can nuke LOL

We use paper plates on our boat a lot because of limited water. We have dishes too, but mostly we use the paper plates. It works for us and I'd use Christmas ones in July if I had them. Yummy meal.

Have a fabulous day and week, Ann. Tomorrow is another day off. Big hug t you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. ♥

4th dinner meaning holiday not 4th as in after 1st, 2nd, 3rd dinner. (Just in case you needed help like with the colors of our flag!)

Love the style of that flag on the cake! Great job! Your 4th of July meal sounds very American! The red plate was perfect too!

I love your flag! It is different and artistic. Too pretty to cut and eat. You must have given Gibbs an awesome Fourth!

oooh, I like your stylized flag cake! Nice work!

Glad you had a little picnic, just the two of you. We didn't do much either--drove 5 hours to St. Louis to see Colin, and then we had hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill. It was a low-key holiday for us too.

It's just so much easier when you can toss it in the trash instead of washing it...lol

I find it hard to cook just for myself. I've been eating a lot of sandwiches lately and when it's colder I like to make a pot of soup or a casserole that will last several days.

It's just so much easier to use the paper and toss them when I'm done eating.

LOL, too funny.

Thanks. The meal was quick and easy and that always works for me

Thanks. I actually had something different in mind but it went a different direction once I started the cake. That happens often

Low key works best for me. If I had gone to a big picnic somewhere I would have been sitting there thinking about when I could go home...lol

We had hamburgers over at Adam and Gabby's. Would have had hot dogs too but their party turned out to be just us and the other food was being put in the freezer for another time. I brought over onion dip and deviled eggs!
