Decorations part 1

Since I have so many pictures I'm going to break it up into a few posts. Here's the first of them.

In the bedroom I forgot to take a picture of the bed with the Christmas comforter. This is on the dresser. Oh and now I see you can just see the corner of the bed in the mirror.

I put a few things in the bathroom. Gibbs wants to show you the shower curtain.

 

This is the shelf on the wall. I've had these carolers for a long time. They're kind of on the ugly side but for some reason I just like them.

 

And just a little tree and Christmas colored washcloths in the basket

 

I may add more here but not sure.

Finally upstairs we have the 4ft. tree decorated. Gibbs wants to show you that too

Today I'm going to go out for the first time since Monday. It's been nice being hold up in the house and not having to venture out in the snow.

Snow happy

I am not happy that we got blasted with snow Monday night but there is a bright side.

I got my outside Christmas lights out before the snow started.

I had to push the snow with the door to let Gibbs out but I didn't have to go to work.

 

I had to go out and shovel the front porch and sidewalk but someone cleared my driveway for me. Not sure who it was because I never saw them. It sure did make me happy.

 

This storm is supposed to last until Wednesday 7am but that's OK. I can watch it through the window. I have nowhere I need to be.

What I bought

I saw some very unique items at the craft show. Things I've never seen at any others. There was one woman who did wool paintings. The best way I can describe it was they were along the lines of needle felting but they were large paintings.

But what I did buy was something from this person

 She photographs actual snowflakes.  I bought this 4x4 print for a coworker

 

The other item I bought was this adorable little ornament

It's crocheted around a battery operated tea light and a little hat is glued to the top.  Here's one with his nose lit up.

So now it's Tuesday. It's the 4th day of my vacation. I've done a lot of procrastinating. I did manage to get some decorating done. Crafting and present wrapping is on the agenda for today. The problem is, I'm not very good at following an agenda. Maybe I'll just play it by ear.

Hitting the road.

Saturday morning was cold but I bundled up and hit the road.

 

The sun was shining but it was freezing

 

I headed to Erie for a craft show at a church. I got there just when they were opening and thankfully the line to get in wasn't too long.

 

I bought two items here but I'll save those until tomorrow. 

Friday night

When I got home from work Friday night I was pretty excited about having a whole week off. I thought I would get started on the Christmas decorations. I put 3 trees together but ran out of energy before I could decorate them.

And a 4' tree in the upstairs hall. This used to be the one that I would decorate for Wade in the cave.

 

Don't ask why I am putting up so much. The only reason I can come up with is that I just like it. It makes me feel all holly jolly.

A very nice Thanksgiving

I couldn't have asked for a better day. I already told you I got the day off so sleeping in was my first treat of the day. I always enjoy a leisurely morning instead of having to get up and dressed for work. 

Amanda and Rob came over in the morning so Amanda could start cooking our feast.

The food was delicious and in true Thanksgiving style I ate too much. 

While Amanda cooked the Macy's day parade was on TV. 

 

Amanda brought a special treat for the day. She got these cute little chocolate turkeys

 

Friday I had to go to work but the day went by fast and now I am off for all next week. I decided to use up the rest of my vacation days. I'll use the time to get my house decorated for Christmas and maybe do some shopping and crafting. I have a few Christmas presents yet that I want to make so I'm hoping to get those finished.

I just couldn't resist

When Amanda and I were out we stopped at Walmart. They had some of their black Friday deals out and I spotted some pioneer woman bowls. There are 4 bowls total in different sizes and they all have lids.

 

Excuse the mess on the counter. The one in the back is the only design I saw and when I opened them up I thought the smaller ones looked a bit Christmasy. I didn't need them but they're Pioneer Woman, and they're pretty.

Happy Thanksgiving

Today I'll be kicking back and relaxing while Amanda cooks us a feast. Its been nice since she took over the holiday cooking.

Another day out with Amanda

Saturday Amanda and I had another fun day. 

First we went out for an early lunch. We went to Perkins. I ordered off the senior citizen menu and still had way more than I could eat. That's OK though, I like leftovers.

Next we went to another high school for their annual Christmas craft show

The only thing I bought there was a bow tie for Gibbs. He'll look real spiffy for Christmas.

 

We went to a second smaller craft show and a lady selling jelly and other stuff asked Amanda if I was her mother. When Amanda said yes she told me you get a free jelly. Then she told us about how her mother in-law had passed away right before the craft show the year before. This year any mother who was with a daughter or I suppose son got a free jelly. It was so nice of her that I bought one for Amanda.

I also bought a gift for Amanda that I told her she needed to forget about till Christmas. We saw this at another show and she really liked it

Lastly I bought a table runner from a retired local teacher. She does beautiful work.All her table runners are reversible

I downloaded a photo editing app recently.  It does a pretty good job of removing backgrounds.

Donut make you feel good

You just have to love it when you can see the love in your work. 

 

Don't see it? Have a closer look. Nothing says lovin' like something from my donut fryer.

One day last week, I was feeling especially grumpy in the morning. When these came out of the fryer they were talking to me and trying to convince me to have one. I stuck to my guns and resisted the temptation. I haven't mentioned it in a while but I've been doing good with the weigh loss. Since I started back near the end of August I've lost a total of 20 lbs. I seem to be stuck where I'm at right now but I'm not giving up and I'm trying very hard to be diligent with the holidays coming. 

sometimes it pays to whine

The schedule came out for next week and it had me working on Thanksgiving. I said to new boss "you've got the two highest paid employees working the holiday and some if us aren't happy about it "

He promptly took me off and asked if that was what I wanted. Of course I said yes and that I was tired of having to work holidays. There are times when I get myself into trouble when I open my mouth, but this time wasn't one of them.

I had a cake order to do at work the other day. I decided to use my cake comb to add some texture. I went a little too much and you could see the cake through the frosting. No problem. Just change the layout and cover that spot up.

All caught up

I got a card in the mail the other day saying that Gibbs was due for some shots. He went yesterday at 4. 

 

He's all caught up now and I am broke.

No shortage here.

There is just no limit to the things that make me wonder how much stupid there is in the world.

A customer brought a bag of rolls up to the deli counter and asked if they were pepperoni balls. The deli manager said "what does the label on them say?"

Was there really a need to ask if they were pepperoni balls? 

Saving for a rainy day

 Some of us save money for a rainy day. If you're a blogger though, you sometimes save material for times when subjects are a little sparse. 

A while back Jean from Cheerfulmonk sent me this saying that "this might be a good blog post for you"

It's been sitting in my email in box waiting for  me to need blog material. 

Well, she was right. It is a subject that seems to be more and more on my mind lately. I do like my job but since my boss passed away over a year ago, things just haven't been the same. It's not that his son isn't trying but he doesn't have the experience or knowledge that both his dad and his grandfather had. Those of us who have been there the longest are really feeling like we take a back seat to less experienced employees. Not to mention that these same employees don't do a fraction of the work that we do. The worst part is, at least for myself, I'm not nearly as motivated to do a good job any more. A little show of appreciation sure would go a long way sometimes.

Fun day

Saturday was a fun day out with Amanda. First I went to her house for an early lunch. She made potato soup.

Then it was off to a craft show.

 

It doesn't look like much in the picture but there were a lot of crafters. I got two more Christmas gifts out of the way.

Then we went to Kohls so Amanda could pick up an order. We both had other things we were going to buy but the lines were way too long, so we changed our minds.

Next was Hobby Lobby and neither one of us bought anything.

Lastly was a stop at Walmart. If we went then I could skip my trip after work on Sunday . 

Then it was home to lounge for the rest of the day.

Side note. Grace asked the other day if I was using a guide to put together my Nana Ann book. The answer is no. I'm pretty much flying by the seat of my pants. I did go online and search for possible topics to include but that's about it.
