This buds for you

I've had an ugly, wild rose bush in my front yard for as long as I can remember. I should just dig it up but I'm too darn lazy. The roses aren't all that pretty and they smell horrid. It does have one small redeeming quality though.

It does have pretty little rose buds on it. That's the only time they look good as far as I'm concerned.

I have never heard of horrible smelling roses! Have you found out what kind they are?

I have never heard of bad smelling roses either! Maybe they are just old??

Your rose smells horrible? Mine is just beginning to bloom, I can't wait :)

I never heard of wild roses. That is a pretty bud. I have roses that don't smell but not a bad smelling rose. Poor little rose. I just needs some loving. Take care.

Ugly and smelly? I'm not surprised it's wild! So would I be! :-)

Actually, I think it's very pretty. I just can't imagine a rose not smelling good. But ... guess it can happen.

Oh.......I LOVED the dueling bloggers!!! What a hoot. And you did a fabulous job. I had to bring Bud in to view this. Great work...hope Duke doesn't suffer from jet lag upon returning home tho.

Good one Ann! Thanks for the bud, it's really pretty. I'm not sure if I've ever smelled a bad rose, but I take your word for it. :) Would love to see this bud when it blooms. :)

Maybe needs some nutrition to help it.

Well that's a pretty bud indeed. Sorry you don't care for the rosebush though. I can relate as roses are not my favorite flower.

Have a terrific day. :)

Hi Ann, My hubby loves rose buds and I love the roses once they open...

I've seen some ugly wild rose bushes before too--and they really shouldn't be called 'roses'... ha

Hugs,
Betsy

At least something good comes from it, right? That is a sweet little bud.

Count me in on the lazy part. I have three small not good looking rose bushes in my front yard and I had wanted to take them out as soon as I planted them 5 years ago and they are still there.

Ugly, smelly roses? I haven't heard of such a thing! You'll have to show us the ugly flowers when they bloom. :)

The detail in your bud photo is spectacular. Weather and neglect evidently killed all but one cane of a bfragrnt pink rose I had. Or maybe your wild rose invaded. It is a prolific bloomer.

The buds look just like yours, but the opened rose is a dark, almost black red. The rose buds open quickly from bud to the petals falling off and do not look pretty. At some point that plant has to go!

Gotta go with BeadedTail on this one - never heard of such a thing. I'm holding out for pics and will just have to take your word for it on the stinky-poo part. ;)

Dig it up. Life is too short to have ugly plants in your garden. Go get a hydrangea or something. :)

I think rosebuds are beautiful...it would be lovely if they stayed that way longer than they do. Too soon they open up and then the petals are all over the ground. Pretty photo Ann!

Huh...and I thought this was a Beer party.

Oh well...the rose "bud" is pretty.

BTW...not all roses are created equal. Some are major fussy. I refuse to grow them. Knock-out Roses are the best for us lazy gardeners.

I think the buds are pretty too - are you saying you don't like them when they open up?

Interesting. I have a climbing rose that is the most obnoxious plant in my yard except for one week when it's gorgeous. I can't bring myself to get rid of something that looks that good in my rotten soil.
