Looking back

I haven't done anything of a crafty nature since Monday so I'm out of posts. I was thinking about doing another one about the lanterns showing how I make them but haven't had the ambition yet. That leaves me with nothing other than talking about how I go to work and come home and curl up on the couch until it's time to go to bed. Since that's a pretty short story I thought I would look back to last year and see what was going on then.

Even though it's been cold I don't think it's gotten as cold as it did on November 11 of last year. We have been in the 20's though. Yesterday when I left work it cold, half rain half snow but I think the temperature was 32.

It seems last year in November I was on my paper bead making kick. Apparently the novelty wore off on that because I haven't made any in quite some time.

Maybe today when I get home from work I'll try and work on something in the craft room. I do have some table runners that I'm supposed to be making for someone. She brought me the material a while ago and I still haven't done them. My excuse is that she brought Christmas fabric and since I don't do Christmas till after Thanksgiving I wasn't able to start them.

I'd probably do Christmas anytime of year. There IS a store in the hill country of Texas that is nothing but Christmas year 'round and I LOVE shopping there any month. lol

There are all sorts of Christmas trees up in homes around the 'hood. I still think it is way too early for that. Why do we just pass up Thanksgiving??

I have not made paper beads however I did have some that someone gave me. I like them. Yours looks great. Love the colors, I am a dark color person anyway. Yep...our high yesterday was 36 but the wind was blowing so it was COLD! The day before same temp only wind and rain. Winter has arrived like a bull charging in!! Crazy. Last nights low 29 but high today 55.....gotta get out and do some winter preparing. Take care and create!

Sometimes it's just hard to get going at something - been there, done that. Your paper beads have me intrigued. I usually do Christmas 'makes' year round since it's my favourite 'season'.

I like that you can stretch on the couch. i am too tall for most, but prefer that prone pose when at home

You have tomorrow off so hopefully you'll be in the mood to start on something. If you do, great and if you don't that's okay too.

Have a fabulous day and weekend, Ann. Big hug to you and scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥

I know how it feels if you can't get in the mood. Yesterday I planned on having all day out in my barn . . . I was so happy. Then when yesterday came I could not get in the mood to do anything creative. I started about three different things and each one failed because my heart wasn't in it. Creating is more a thing of the heart than a thing of the brain. LOL . . . maybe that's why my talents lay in that area.

"I don't do Christmas till after Thanksgiving " now that's funny. I keep seeing post all over FB where people are putting up their xmas trees already, like some even last week! Of course those folks have young children and it's the kids who are driving that decision but I can't help but wonder if it all doesn't get old and stale by xmas time. I'm guessing all the commercialization that kids are hit with is responsible. You would think tho that parents would be parents and set some boundaries but then I guess you would be wrong. Sad.

I think pretty up Xmas stuff before Black Friday is ridiculous. But I'm old and crotchety. :)

I don't have young children but I usually put up my Christmas tree &/or decorations early. The only thing driving my decision to do so is all the joy & happiness that Christmas brings me... and no, it never gets old and stale. The one thing my children thank me for the most is for their love of Christmas. It's ok to not like Christmas... perhaps even hate it... because of a bad childhood. But please don't lump every Christmas-loving person into one category labeled "Parents who let their commercialized children rule the roost as far as Christmas decorations go". That's unfair.... just as unfair, Grace, as if I'd categorize you as old & crochety because you hate Christmas. I know you have a reason and I respect it. Peace, Andrea xoxo

I can look at Christmas stuff or do Christmas crafts any time of year but I will NEVER decorate before the turkey has been eaten on Thanksgiving day

So far I've seen one house on my street that has their outside decorations up. I have to let Thanksgiving have it's turn before I put up Christmas

We are getting lots of winter like weather. There are things I need to get outside and take care of but it's been so crappy I haven't wanted to

I have a couch that has a chase on one end and it's got plenty of room to stretch

I'll be hitting a craft show tomorrow with my daughter so maybe I'll pick up an idea or two

I totallyl agree with what you said. You really can't force the creative process. You have to wait until your heart says lets go for it...lol

Even when my kids were little, they knew that the Christmas decorations could not come out until after the turkey had been eaten and the dishes washed on Thanksgiving. I have always loved Christmas but the way they keep bringing it out earlier and earlier makes me really sick of seeing it by the time it gets here

LOL, I'll be old and crotchety with you cuz I agree

I have so many ideas saved in Pinterest that I could craft forever if I did just one idea a day...lol

I always enjoy seeing your crafting and when you talk about it. Creativity is a great thing in any way a person does it. A creative person is usually one of the smarter ones.

Ann said...

Well I don't know about being smarter but I can try and fake it...lol

Those beads were very cute. You can give yourself permission to do nothing. Sometimes that is the best medicine! Hope you have a nice day.
