Overkill

I had gotten the emails about Amazon prime day and all the specials they were running for prime members. I'm not a prime member but they were also offering a 30 free trial on prime. When I came across a really good deal on cutting mats for my cricut machine I decided to go for the free trial and order the mats.

Yesterday the box was sitting on my front porch when I got home from work. In the picture the box is already open but it's there to show the size.

Now the cutting mats that I ordered are 14" x 12". They were inside a manila envelop inside the box with no other packing. I couldn't help thinking "overkill" when I saw the envelope inside the box.

I know, that's always discouraging. I'm guessing they don't care about the waste, that it's cheaper to have certain size boxes. I hope you enjoy the mats.

Well, Amazon always does a god job of packing. I love Prime! Free shipping and you get your order in one or two days. I'm glad you found something fun!

I kept looking for something I couldnt resist but never did find 'it.' Lol. I have gotten till I order quite a bit through prime...when I had my accident last year and was not allowed to.put any weight on my foot/leg, that is what got me started.

We've gotten itty-bitty things in big boxes, or even big envelopes. That's the good thing about Prime, you can order something for $7.98 and get it delivered for free (also movies, tv shows, music, books - all 'free'). I did make some purchases on Monday but they were items already scheduled to be purchased and they weren't on sale. I have no patience for wading through pages and pages of stuff looking for something I probably don't need. I've also discovered over the years that Amazon doesn't always have the best price!

they get special rates for each size box, whatever fits inside the box. I have gotten a tube of makeup inside one of those boxes but with plastic bags to keep it from rattling. I love prime and am a 4 year member. you get all the free kindle book and you get movies and TV shows, so don't forget to watch prime on your fire stick TV.. that is why we have it, all the movies and shows.

We've been prime members for years. We get more than what we pay for with prime. They do overkill on each shipment, but we've never had anything that was destroyed either.

Have a fabulous day and weekend, Ann. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥

I couldn't agree more. I get so many packages just like that and I wondered who is teaching these packers???? Such a waste of money.

This has happened to us many of times. It would be a small item loaded with thirty feet of brown paper in a big box. I guess they pack with the first box they see. Thanks for the share. Hope you enjoy the new cutting boards

I have the same feelings.

I will definitely enjoy the mats. I need to find some time now to do some crafting

I had one thing in two days and the other two took an extra day but still it was fast because they both shipped later than the first one did

I like shopping online better than in stores except for clothes and shoes

The only reason I knew about the mats was I saw it advertised somewhere else. I found one place cheaper but not after you added the shipping. I have a month to decide if I want to keep prime and I think I might

I would much rather have my stuff arrive in good shape than in a box that was a more apropriate size...lol

Ann said...

Yep, either the pape or the plastic air filled pillows. Oh well at least my item arrived in good shape

That is kind of overkill. But at least it got there safely. Have a good weekend Ann.

HAHA....therefore they can charge more for shipping to the folks that don't have prime.

at least they didn't fill all that extra space with those poly-peanuts...but also what if it had been breakable item, jiggling around in that box without protection

Omggg...lazy little fart packers!
And glad the package was still sitting at your door step!

That packaging is sad and wasteful, especially when multiplied by the millions of packages in the mail at any given moment. I have gotten packing like that, and sometimes good packing like a blouse in an envelope.
