The photo portrays a picture other than what was actually happening. To me the picture is showing a person who is deeply troubled. The truth is that I was pointing a camera at Wade and he was hiding from it.
I played a little bit to see if I could remove the beer can and so long as you didn't know it was there before it is passable
I think by doing this picture in black and white it gave it a more emotional feeling than what was really there.
Speaking of emotional feelings, I was a bit bummed when I discovered that this past week I gained a pound back instead of losing any. Can you say "woe is me".

This edit is so beautifully done! It really suits the mood. If I had to give the picture a name, I would call it "Sorrow". Don't you think? I am glad to know it really is not what it seems. Wow, how on earth you got that beer can out is like magic.
Thank you. Yes, sorrow was the word I was looking for and couldn't think of.
He would either do this or put his hand up in front of his face whenever he knew I was trying to take his picture.
To remove the beer can I used a clone tool in photoshop elements. It's not always perfect but works sometimes.

WOW...great editing on that. I love it. And you are correct, I thought it was a pic of someone troubled. Very nice. As for me working at the barn, there are only mine and one other horse there. I am pulling the weight cause the other woman has been struggling and it is getting old...but she will be moving her horse this week. That will leave just my babe. However there is work being done to help the look of the barn so that we can get some others in there....this stopping on my way to work to let Misfire out will get really old.
An amazing photo and edit - and yes, very, very emotional. I see disappointment and despair. And exhaustion - emotional exhaustion.
As for the other, you gain and lose weight on a daily basis - my weight sometimes fluctuates 2-3 pounds from day to day, so I wouldn't pit too much stock in that reading.
when I saw it the first word was despair. and with the beer can it says it even more. I like it with the can. I surely would never have guessed he was hiding his face from your camera. it really is an amazing photo and edit. I wish I could see the original...this is worthy of a contest to me... the pound will disappear with in a day or two if you are careful... weight gained quickly goes quickly but when we let it go until another is added it gets harder... fighting the fight never gets easier. 2 years and 8 months in my fight and I can attest to that. just keep on doing what you were doing
wow. Very dramatic...until you hear the story behind the photo. I guess all that we "see" isn't always the truth, right? I'm glad he wasn't in despair there!
Great edit of getting rid of the can. I love black and white photography. This must be so bittersweet for you.

I think that your photo has enormous impact and like you said a troubled soul. I let myself gain weight to a certain number and then it's time to cut back. I just posted about homemade donuts and when I weighed myself this morning, I realized that they are all for Steve, LOL. Time to start cutting back; time to make a pot of vegetable soup, LOL

Such an awesome photo Ann! It's very interesting to think about the photo being of someone who doesn't want his picture taken when it looks totally like someone full of woe ... curious. You're a good photographer.
