Three weeks in a row

Thursdays at work I play store manager instead of store baker. One of the jobs I have is to straighten aisles.. For the last 3 weeks in a row I have found this hidden behind other items on the shelf. It's always the Hillshire Farm brand and it's always the roast beef.
It's bad enough that a refrigerated item is left in a non refrigerated section but it's also empty.
Someone has a taste for roast beef. They take the pouch of lunch meat out of the plastic container and steal that and hide the container. It infuriates me when people do this. If you can't afford to buy the roast beef we have cheaper options available. Oh and here's an idea, why not work for a living and pay for the things you want.

Oh for pete's sake! Store management should put up a sign in the area where the empty has been found: "We're watching you... please pay for your roast beef!" ~Andrea xoxo

Good grief!! Are there cameras in there?

Yes, it's time to catch the person!

People will work harder at stealing than what it would take to work and pay.

the sad thing is, this doesn't surprise me, I have seen so many things in our Walmart with empty boxes like this.. looks like they arent smart enough to find different spots to hide it.. i once opened a shoe box to try on walking shoes and inside was really old shoes, they took the new and left the old. several times the shoe boxes are empty. it beats me why people put refrigerated things on shelves and leave them there also and they have to be thrown away.. crazy world is getting crazyier.

I'm not surprised either. Once I bought a mini food processor. When I got it home, I noticed it didn't look exactly like what was advertised. Sure enough. It was a "used" older model. I was not happy to be the victim of this switcheroo, but the store accepted the return and gave me a new one.

Ann, that is so sad, that we have come to a place like this. I have lost things from theft at my craft mall, certainly not edible. Sometimes I think it is just a game.

I wonder what else they are stealing? I'm with you on this.

Have a fabulous day off, Ann. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥

Time to get the security cameras rolling!

I always save a little kindness for people who steal food...other items not so much.

People who steal/loot/pillage think that the store makes enough money and they won't miss it...or they think insurance pays for their thievery and that makes it okay. Well...it doesn't. It puts the store out of business and there won't be anything to replace it. This leaves the area without stores and those people who rely on said store have nowhere to shop.

Here in Chicago, they have looted the stores so much, that it leaves entire neighborhoods without stores. The thieves move on to other neighborhoods and destroy their stores too. We have a mall here that I won't go to because it isn't safe any longer. There are shootings, fights, carjackings in the parking lot and stealing. The paying customers aren't going there anymore. I'm guessing the mall will close soon. Sad, isn't it?

Gotta wonder about people who do such things. And no, it isn't about hunger....it is about stealing. There is other food available at reduced prices.

Sorry for the rant.

That is horrible! The fact that it has happened multiple times too! I think they should put up a portable camera over that meat section...:)jp

One time I found a huge bag of pistachios that was half empty hidden by the towels in our local Meijer store. People are just ridiculous!

I prefer the Smoked Ham myself! - Okay I know it's not funny that people steal like that. However as hubby says some people may not have the means/money and figure that is the only way they can have something to eat is by stealing it. Sad but all to often true.

That would make me so mad. I totally understand your anger and agree with what you said.

One of the things in the stealing line that is happening here, because so much is now being couriered and delivered is that the "courier brings you package" and before you've got home or you've out - someone boldly walks up to the front door and just takes it!

Wouldn't it be nice if you could put a mousetrap where the "thief" is leaving his empty packages and he is "got" - but that's probably illegal so maybe shift the store cameras around...
