My response was "Cat mommies should know better than to put pressies under the tree so soon.
Later I told her that Santa will surely forgive Ace because he knows that he meant well but the temptation was just to great to resist.

What makes me sad smile is the fact that he opened it right where you could see exactly what's in the package like he knew the face was there at least it wasn't the doll
I have not put presents under tree fir years, till the last bit..specially no bows even then!
We put our tree up and so far, Binx hasn't destroyed it. lol Yes, cats can only handle so much temptation.
My senior cats pretty much leave presents alone now but have destroyed my tree skirt by scratching it. laying all over it and getting their hair on it and even puking once!
Oophs, we never had trouble with our cats messing with the gifts under the tree. We did have to weight the tree down so when they climb up the middle it didn't tip over, lol Looks like you're getting ready. This will be a bit different for us, hubby can't lift due to his recent surgery, so am decorating differently.
