Congratulations number one

I've done two cakes recently that say congratulations. Today is one of two. I'm not quite sure what Earl did but he's being congratulated with a cake

I asked the woman who ordered this what she wanted on it and she said she didn't care. That could be either good or bad. Sometimes they like it and sometimes they don't. 

A fun and easy design

I'm really liking this simple design where you cut a picture and then layer them on top of each other. I did this design on the Memorial day card I sent to Brad here on this post.

 I made this one into an easel card which is nice for displaying the artwork.

A little lady

I recently made a card for my favorite little lady, Presley. When you're making a card for a little lady what do you put on it? Why little ladybugs of course.

 I found some ladybug stickers to put inside the card. The strip of stickers was just a little too long to fit inside so I cut them off and used them on the inside to decorate it

Fluffy has a brother

My daughter Amanda has a cat named Fluffy. Fluffy has a new brother. Let me introduce you to Milo

 

 Milo is the cutest little fluff ball you ever did see. However, Fluffy just may disagree with you.

A birthday card

Wade's youngest son has a birthday on July 4th. I still send all of his kids birthday cards so I needed to get one made for Taylor. This is the card I made.

The inside says you call the shots so mix up a great day and enjoy. I found the image online and did a print and cut with my Cricut Machine. Taylor is a bartender and cook so I thought the image was perfect.

a pleasant day off

I requested a vacation day for Sunday June 18th. I didn't have any plans I just wanted a 3-day weekend. I decided to take a drive to a nearby town and do a little shopping. I didn't buy much but I did pick up a sunflower mirror at Dollar Tree. I thought it would go good with my layered sunflower pictures that I had made a while back. I hung the three of them on the wall over my desk in the cave.

On my way home I stopped at the cemetery where my dad is buried. I thought I would wish him a happy Father's Day.

This cemetery is out in the country and it's really quite pretty and peaceful.

There is a farm right next to it and I noticed that they had a bunch of goats in the pasture. They used to have cows but I didn't notice if they still have them or not. I thought of taking a walk over and getting some pictures but in the end I didn't. Maybe I'll do that another day

This one was a challenge

I'm posting another cake today. This one was quite the challenge. The customer who ordered it was a bit of a pain in the butt to say the least. She had asked questions on the store's Facebook page and then sent me numerous text messages after I had sent her a couple of sample pictures. She finally sent me a picture of what she wanted her cake to look like. This is the picture that she sent.

Then she sent me a second picture. Same design but this one had both of the schools that she wanted included on her cake.

Because of the conversations I had had with her and the amount of stuff she wanted on this cake I was seriously stressing over it. When I finished the cake I was happy that she wasn't supposed to pick it up until 5:00 and I would be long gone. Here is my cake.

She ended up calling early to find out if the cake was done and wanted to come in and get it earlier than ordered. My initial reaction was oh great she's probably going to complain. It was a pleasant surprise when she was extremely friendly, and loved the cake. I carried it up to the register for her and then out to her car and I even got a $5 tip.

Not a lot of notice

I had a customer come in at 9:00 in the morning. She wanted to order a cake for the next day at 8:00 a.m.. I told her that if it wasn't too involved I would be able to do it but I had to fit it into that day because I wouldn't have time in the morning to get it finished. She told me that she was taking it to the senior center because they had encouraged her to start walking. She said to me "tomorrow I do that darn hill". This is the cake that I did for her.

She was very happy when she picked it up and before she left I told her good luck with that hill. Her response was "oh my that darn hill". I told her you can do it and my coworker in the deli said we have confidence in you. She walked away with a smile

On the fence about this one

This is another craft that I did on one of my days off. I started with the layered eagle and then decided to put it on a Dollar Tree sign that I've had laying around. Then I needed something for the blank space. I found the design on design bundles.net. I'm kind of undecided about this and I think the big problem is that the ridges in the sign make the writing in the vinyl design look a bit funky.

Maybe it's jus that the two designs just don't work well together. Each would be fine on their own but maybe together they just don't work.

 maybe it just needs something else to finish it off. If so I don't know what yet

Another shadow box

Today I have the second shadow box design that I made. This one has a patriotic theme.

Looking at the picture I'm not quite sure if the glass is dirty or if that's just a glare from the window. Either way I'll have to make sure that the glass is nice and clean before I give it as a gift

Father's Day

I can't remember the last time I made a Father's Day card. I decided that this year I would send one to my son. This is the one that I made for him.

Sympathy card

I believe this is the first sympathy card that I have ever made. It's hard to know what to put on it. I figured simple was the best.

This one is for my cousin and his wife who recently lost their son to cancer.

sometimes I doodle

Occasionally if there is paper and pencil in front of me I'll just start drawing. Recently I drew this little guy.

I have no idea what he's supposed to be but I thought he was kind of cute. Not to mention he makes for good blog fodder.

Beach picnic

Amanda had a picnic at the beach to celebrate her birthday. This was located at Raccoon Park which is right on Lake Erie. Today I just have some random pictures I took while I was there. One can not go to the beach and not take pictures. Or at least "I" can't go to the beach and not take pictures.

It was a nice day but a bit on the chilly side. From the pictures it kind of looks like the place was deserted but there were actually quite a lot of people there. Those young enough to handle it were even in the water swimming. 

Birthday card.

Now that Amanda has received her birthday card I can finally show it. This is called an eclipse card. Why it's called that I don't know. You print two layers of the exact same picture. The top layer has slits cut out of it and you can see part of the layer below.

Here's a closer look. I used foam tape between the layers to give it a little more depth. Oh and the picture was part of a free download I got from Creative Fabrica. It was a selection of birth month flower.

 I also did a copy of the flowers on the inside.

 I cut down an envelope to make a little pocket to hold the cash that I included in the card. I did a search online for the inside sentiment and I found the perfect one.

A three cake day

Friday June 9th I had three cakes to do at work. The first one was rather simple as they only wanted Happy Birthday written on it and done in yellow and green.

The second one, which I forgot to take a picture of, was also rather simple. It was a graduation cake and all they wanted was a border and writing. They didn't want any flowers since it was for a guy.

The third and final cake was the worst of the three to do. The customer provided a hand drawn picture of what they wanted the cake to look like. This is her picture.

They also provided a small jar of gold sprinkles that they wanted put on the cake. I have to say the sprinkles didn't "sprinkle" like I thought they would and they ended up looking a little to clumped together in spots.  Here was the case that I did.

While I was out

Monday June 5th I had an eye appointment. The same thing that happened to my left eye last year on Memorial Day weekend, happened to my right eye this year on Memorial Day weekend. I had an appointment scheduled for July 14th but called to see if I could get in sooner to have my right eye looked at. Sure enough he said it was the same thing just not as bad. The eye pressure wasn't as high and the inflammation wasn't as bad as it was last year. Anyway while I was out I decided to stop and treat myself to lunch at Arby's

While I was sitting there eating my lunch I noticed that I wasn't the only old lady sitting there alone playing on my phone.

She was doing exactly the same thing that I was.

Hummingbird shadow box

You might remember a while back I made a layered sunflower picture. It was this post.  https://annssnapeditscrap.blogspot.com/2023/05/layers.html 

I had been a little intimidated by the layer designs but once I tried the free sunflower design I was hooked. Right after that the woman who offered the free design was having a buy two get two free sale. I couldn't resist and I ended up with 8 new designs. Of course after that I also had to do some shopping at Michael's. I purchased some shadow box frames and some cardstock in various colors. The first one I tried out was this hummingbird

This is in an 8x8 shadow box frame. I purchased a variety of different designs and I'm planning on using these as Christmas gifts.

Lemonade stand

Memorial Day weekend my son and his wife had a yard sale. While they were selling treasures Presley had a lemonade stand. I decided that her next card from me was going to have a lemonade stand theme.  This is the card that I made

I made a copy of her school picture and then cut around her so that I could put her inside the lemonade stand.

Water slide

You're probably thinking that I visited a water park and tried out the slide. And you may be wondering what was a woman my age thinking doing something like that. It just isn't true though. I tried out a water slide of a different kind. I purchased water slide decal paper. You print a picture on an inkjet printer. You then spray the picture with two or three coats of clear acrylic paint. After that you cut around the design put it in water for 30 seconds and then you can apply it to whatever you want it on. When it comes out of the water the backing paper slides off and it allows you to easily move the picture on your surface to get it in the right spot. 

I wanted some new plates for my plate rack in my kitchen. I printed these and and applied them to some Dollar Tree plain white plates.

look who's turning 40

Lordy lordy my daughter's turning 40. How is that even possible?

We may not have always gotten along and we butted heads so many times over the years but I will be forever in awe of the amazing person she is.

She has the brightest smile and a heart of gold.

Growing up she had a abundance of energy.

Happy Birthday to the best daughter a mother could have.
