I posted last week about my peonies and how they didn't have a single ant on them and hadn't bloomed yet. After writing that post I Googled about ants on peonies and found out that they really don't need the ants to bloom. Just a couple days after I posted that this happened.
After I took these pictures even more of them opened up.

Wow, they are stunning! Well, this turns my knowledge on it's head. I have always read that they have to have ants and they are symbiotic!
They are absolutely gorgeous. My plant never has that many blooms. I'm wondering if there's something I could feed it to make it bloom better next year. Do you have any advice.?
There 'ya go! Gorgeous!!

They are gorgeous! I read that about the ants, too.
I so miss my peony bush in my front yard! I looked to buy one this year and didn't find one. I love these!
These are gorgeous. I've always thought these were one of the prettiest flowers.
don't forget to take more pics, if I can take pics of Beau every moment of the day you can take Peonie Pics.. this one is gorgeous
I remember my mom having peonies when I was younger. They always had a ton of ants and then.
Oooh! how lovely!! Having left behind my neighbor's peonies in Chicago, I was so happy to see them selling small bunches at Trader Joe's. Yes, I paid $10 (!!) for a wee bunch. It was the flower as much as the memory I was paying for. Worth every dime. Enjoy yours!!! Cut them and put them in every room of your house....
They are most beautiful. I love this time of year.
Have a fabulous day and rest of the week, Ann. Big hug to you and lot of scritches to Gibbs. ♥
It was worth the wait, the blooms are gorgeous.
They're beautiful. Andy's trying to get some started here.
It is beautiful. So glad they are opening up.
