First time

There's a first time for everything and on Sunday I had a couple of firsts.
I took a little trip to the mall and had called my son to tell him that I was going and would be over after that. He invited me to dinner at his new place which was also a first. He asked me to pick him up on the way so he could go too.
First stop was the craft store for a few supplies but when I was pulling in I noticed that they had put in a Christmas tree shop. I had never heard of them until I read about them on Russ's blog, Grampy's World.
After spotting it I told Brad we had to stop and his response "I'm down with that"

Right after taking this picture his response was "Your weird mom"

Somewhere along the line we got on the conversation of Starbucks. I said I had never had their coffee but that Amanda loved it. We left Christmas tree shop with 4 bags, one for me and three for Brad. Then he said he was taking me to Starbucks and buying me a coffee. I think the fact that I foot the bill for his three bags worth of stuff had something to do with it but I'll just pretend it's because he's such a nice son.
We each had a caramel macchiato and let me tell you it was good.

So those were my two firsts for the day. How about you, have you had any firsts recently?

I used to love to go to Starbucks and have a mocha. Then I found out how many calories are in a mocha and I've not been back. You're thin though so what matters.

I love shopping for Christmas things in the fair weather months. There's a place in Pacifica, CA that's wonderful.

I can't think of a first right now, but then again I do the same things pretty much all the time.

Have a terrific day. My best to Duke. :)

Like Sandee, I cannot think of a first right now. But then it is hard for me to think of anything. There must be a first somewhere in my life lately. That is great that you had a nice day with your son. What could be better. Take care.

Love Starbucks! No firsts for me lately!

Uh.....nope. No firsts lately.

Sandee--you can have most Starbucks drinks made "light", but that includes NOT having the whipped cream on the top!

Glad you enjoyed your Starbucks. Be sure to try their yogurts and protein plates in the food cooler--the company I work for makes these.

We don't have those stores over here on this coast but I'd like to check one out! It was nice of your son to take you a Starbucks although I think his mom is pretty nice too. :) I'm not a coffee drinker but they have yummy non-coffee drinks too.

Phil's favorite is their caramel macchiato!!! They also have a new cocoa cappucino that's to die for, that's my fav. But wait, you didn't say what the Christmas Tree store is! Only Christmas stuff or a craft store? And what did both of you buy? Hey, I am a shopaholic and I get a thrill from seeing the inside of new stores and the things people buy. Hmmm, well I guess some firsts for me this spring: First T-Ball game. First time to photograph tornado damage.

No, not lately - I try to keep out of stores and lay low because I'm saving for a car.

Don't care for Starbuck's coffee, but if it's flavored and has tons of whipped cream on top, I can do it ;-)

Glad you had fun with your son!

Oh how wonderful, Ann... I miss my sons SO much --and wish I could have a day with each of them... They are all far away --and we just don't see each other too often anymore. Makes me sad....

Glad you had some 'firsts' with Brad. There are Christmas Shops in Gatlnburg --and also near Ocean Isle Beach in North Carolina We love to go in there---even in the middle of summer!!!!!!

Glad you enjoyed your Starbuck's... I don't get there very often.
Hugs,
Betsy

Not into Starbucks (or coffee at all for that matter ;o) but I could definitely get behind that Christmas Tree Shop!

I've never been in a Christmas Tree Shop ~ I will have to go google it and see what's in there.

I have never been in a Starbucks either ~ it's Tim Horton's for me! I'm Canadian through and through!

Have a good day eh? :)

well, i have just enjoyed your day out with your son almost as much as you did. never seen or heard of the Christmas tree store and it is a first for me that a man would want 3 bags out of one. i am wondering what he got in those bags. i have only been in a starbucks once, 4 years ago, my friend Diane took me and bought a caramel macchiato for me. it was good, but i refuse to pay their prices. i drink my coffee at home. i am impressed with your son and feeling a tad bit envious

Christmas year round would be hard for me to work in.I like to click a little plastic as you did. Coffee drinks are my favorite, you need to go west. I was in WA and they have Starbucks everywhere, one in a church.I buy it for home but have been on a Dunkin Donuts kick lately.Last fall I took a friend to one 170 miles from here just so we could ask where someone could get a good cup of coffee as in their commercial and of course eat some double chocolate donuts they also were advertising.my first is i survived 3 days as babysitter. Phew!!!!

I still have never been to one of this Christmas Tree Shops. Maybe one day :) I also haven't ever had Starbucks Coffe :-o

Ann said...

Sandee oh please don't tell me about the calories. I really don't want to know...lol

Marg there aren't many first for me since I usually do the same thing day after day after day...lol

gayle well I think I love Starbucks now too

Lin light starbucks? oh wait no whipped cream? geesh. Next time I go I'll look for the yogurst and protein plates

beaded tail I wasn't a coffee drinker until a year or so ago. I always hated it

ginny oh cocoa cappuccino sounds good too. Christmas tree shop has a little bit of everything and not one thing in the store was Christmas related :)

Grace I did have a nice day, it's been a long time since the two of us have gone shopping

miawa that's ok, I'm not usuallly either

anny it's a way cool store and yes it was sweet

doris I need to put myself on a spending freeze, I've been doing too much shopping

betsy I can imagine how much you must miss them. My daughter is in Colorado so I don't get to see her.

marie Mexican food is ok not my first choice though

josep I did have a nice day. I wonder how much Starbucks pay to be in all those movies...lol

Jen I wasn't in to coffee until about a year or so ago. I'm not sure how it happened but I'm hooked

fishhawk oh I'm sorry, I hope he comes around sooner than later

russ I did I did, thanks for posting about that store and making me want to go :)You are most welcome for the link

catherine they have a little bit of everything and at really good prices

sandra my son just got his own place and had nothing to start with. He's gotten quite a bit of stuff from friends and relative but there's always something that you think of that you need. I filled a few of those orders for him. The price of Starbucks makes it a very special occasion only kind of thing, I'm very cheap

angels believe it, the funny part was when he got on the phone, called his sister and said how come you never took mom to starbucks...lol

donna I like that store too

bossy betty everyone could use a good first now and then

out on the prairie a starbucks in a church? that is too funny.

dss well if you ever get to starbucks I highly recommend the caramel macchiato
