Wrong impressions

It seems I may have given some of you the wrong impression with my last post. While I appreciate all of your sympathy, I'm afraid that I just don't deserve it. At least not this time. Hold on to it though because in the future I may be asking for some of it...lol
No the true meaning behind my last post is really a little more silly than anything else. I was doing my drops and was reading a post on someones blog and it mentioned farts. Yes, I said farts! Well, farts of course remind me of that lovely little poem that you usually see scrawled on public restroom walls. You know the one. Here I sit all broken hearted, came to sh%*t but only farted. Since my blog is rated G I couldn't very well use the sh%*t word and without it fart just didn't fit in....lol I had that stuck in my head though so I went in search of a picture of a stool and another picture of a heart, combined them and made the image I posted and then my bloggy version of the poem. I'm so weird sometimes. Must be why my kids love me so :)

So today the first picture I posted is a picture of my Duke and on top of that I placed a picture of my long lost Pringle. I embossed the picture of the cat and changed the blending mode to soft light. So there you have a cat impression over a dog (wrong impression)

On a more serious note. While I was at it I got to thinking about that public service ad you used to always hear. The one that said "Friends don't let friends drive drunk" In my opinion, the sad truth is that "YES, friends DO let friends drive drunk." And far too often I might ad. How many times have you been at a party, or perhaps at a bar after work having a few drinks with a friend? You're finally ready to leave and in a bit of a rush to get home. You know without a doubt that your friend has had way more than you have but he/she swears they are OK and don't worry about them. So you go on your way.
When your friend finally thinks they have had enough, they get in their car and head for home. The only problem is that while they are driving, they too have the wrong impression. They think they are in control, that they are safe to drive. Truth is that the image below very well could be how they are seeing the road.

I doubt that serious subjects have much of a future here but this was one that I feel very strongly about. I did this image last night and wanted to share it with you.
Have a safe and happy weekend everyone.

Serious subjects and those close to your heart belong where ever you are...and since you are here, they too belong. I know just what you mean. I've been at those after work Happy Hours that we enjoy so much and then leave heading home knowing we shouldn't be driving...does give you something to think about.

Wow - you did a good job with that picture. Thanks for the reminder.

Roschelle, I'm guilty of it as well. Being the ex wife of a recovering alcoholic however has made me hyper sensitive to the whole drinking thing. I'm not against it, as long as people drink responsibly.

I agree with Roschelle. Whatever subject you want to write about certainly belongs. You did a great job with those photos!

Kimberly, thank you very much and you are very welcome

Beadedtail, you both are right, I usually try to avoid serious subjects whenever possible even off the blog. I prefer to keep things light if you know what I mean.

Thanks for the reminder especially now that we are approaching the Holiday Season. I have been in that same situation but in my case, my friend died on the way home. I did honestly try to get him to ride home with me and he only lived a few houses down from me, but he refused several times. He was struck by a train.

Lets take this seriously.

Hi Ann....the pictures as usual are fantastic...as for the serious content I agree with everyone else...your blog, your rules, your stories!!!! I'm not a huge drinker ..(although neither am I a saint)....but I have taken keys off a couple of my friends in the past when I know they aren't fit to drive even if they say they are ok. With a driver who drinks I think it is losing depth perception that can cause most accidents and you don't have to be 'blind drunk' for this to happen....also it's not just yourself you put at risk...it's any passengers with you, any pedestrians and all the other car users...I am very against drinking and driving so this one really hit home with me!!

Great image!! We have always stressed to our children that it's ok to have a drink or two, but you just don't drive then! They have grown up with a father who has a drink when we go out to eat, but then I always drive home. They have seen that happen every time, even if Dad had only one beer for supper. Sometimes is more the "showing" then the "telling" that works.

Hahaha! I am glad to read that you were not really brokenhearted yesterday.

The beginning of the holiday season is a good time for your message about drinking and driving.

Sheri, I am very sorry to hear about your friend.

allotments4you, I agree with the loss of depth perception. A slower reaction time is also a problem. The comments here come directly to my email in box and I thought, at first, that I clicked on the same message twice...lol gotta love computers

Audreyscountrycrafts, I wish my childrens father would have been more like that, he would take the kids out with him, stop for a few (too many) and then drive home with kids in the car. I always told the kids if he's drinking don't get in the car with him, call me and I'll come get you.

Daisy, no broken heart, just silly :)

The cat/dog overlay is awesome!

It's true about the drunk driving. It's getting worse here, especially among young adults :(

Duni, thank you very much, the small town I live in unfortunately has way too many people who are on suspended liscenses for DUI

Miawa, a little reminder never hurts :)

Angel, why thank you. Had to balance out the serious and the silly :)

DK Miller thanks for stopping by and a great Sunday to you also
