Funny story

Before I get in to more about Christmas I have to share this funny story. In the picture you see my stairs that lead to the upper level of my house. I prop up the shutter and it keeps Gibbs from going up the stairs. It doesn't go all the across the step but it's enough to keep him from going past it.

Christmas eve my daughter and her fiance hadn't arrived yet, my sons fiance was outside smoking and my son and I were standing in the kitchen talking while Presley wandered around the living room. We suddenly realized she wasn't there any more. I had the basement door shut so there was no way she could have gone down there. The shutter was across the steps so that kept her from going up there. Or did it?  She later showed us (on quite a few occasions) how she so easily went right over the shutter and up the stairs to explore the bedrooms. I think Gibbs was watching her too. I may need a new trick to keep him down stairs.

If there is a way to do something a child will find it...

ditto what Rose said.. kids are amazing, especially toddlers. great idea on the shutter but now I am thinking you need a GATE...it sounds like fun and made me laugh.... hope she did not teach Gibbs bad habits

Kids can get past so many things and give you a fright. I so remember.

Have a fabulous day, Ann. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. ♥

This proves that Presley has a good future ahead of her - nothing will hold her back!

All those child-proof locks are more to frustrate adults than anything, I swear. That's funny that she mastered the block without any thought! I hope Gibbs wasn't watching!

She is smart for sure. And now is teaching Gibbs! I think a baby gate is in order now.

Anni, that's what I'm afraid of.

Gayle, so far he hasn't gone over it. I think he may be used to the fact that he is to stay in the room I'm in.

Sandee, that they can.

Lin, I think you're right. I didn't think she would even try but I gueess she was curious enough about what was up those stairs.

Ginny, I have a baby gate in the basement that I use for Gibbs so it's either going to have to come up when Presley is visiting or I'm going to have to buy another one.

KIDS!haha I have a baby gate just propped up at the bottom of the stairs but that is going to change cause if I have my hands full I have to climb over it. I am going to make on to put at the top of the stairs and I think one at the kitchen door.....I am so tired of feeling rushed when I am cooking the furs meals!

That's adorable and they do enjoy wondering all over the place don't they?

I doubt Presley actually knows it's a "stop gate" rather it's just part of Nana's house...I think you need a photo of her doing it, so in the future you can show her...
