I am with Monk, 16 was just another birthday to us.. now i wonder when all the hoopla started. we are living in the age of hoopla... I LOVE THIS CAKE. I think it is my most favorite of all you have shown us.. it looks so lacy and frilly and girly. it would make a great baby shower or even a small wedding cake,
This a lovely cake. Of course, we had a box cake, no bakery cakes back then. I do remember being 16 from old photos but can't put my finger on my feelings. Yes, so long ago.

It's a gorgeous cake! Turning 16 wasn't a big deal when I was a kid, or even when my daughter turned 16. I wonder when/how that changed?

I really don't remember my 16th Birthday but I do remember being 16. Yes, another lifetime ago. The cake is gorgeous.
