The path of totality

Pennsylvania was in the path of totality for the eclipse. Erie was crawling with people coming in to view the eclipse. Hotels were booked solid and were charging $800 a night and up. Personally, seeing the eclipse is not worth that kind of money. Ok, I get that it's a unique occurrence. But to pay that kind of money for a hotel is insane. I'll admit that I wouldn't mind having that kind of money to throw around though.

I was kind of getting a chuckle Monday morning because it was totally cloudy. I was thinking about all those suckers who traveled from all over and spent a boatload of money.

Can you imagine spending all that money and not being able to see a thing?

I was prepared with eclipse glasses just in case.

The sky did clear and the sun did come out. I didn't attempt to take any pictures as I didn't want to mess up my phone.

So did you get to see it? Did the clouds take a break? I did not get the glasses, but wish I would have.

there is no where on this planet that I would pay that much for a room to go there. sign me Cheap To The Bone. while the partial eclipse was here, I was making my own eclipse with a quick 4 minute watch of the actual on CNN.. MY eclipse is set for Sat/Sunday post.

We only got to 98% here but in Luna Pier, which is in SE Michigan they got 100%. All morning I was hearing traffic reports on the expressways saying traffic was going 5 mph and jam packed! Not worth it but it did look pretty cool on television!

We were in the 100% totality also. That is what our hotels were going for as well. I wouldn't travel to see the eclipse but I do have to say we really did enjoy watching it. Glad the clouds parted for you to see it also.

"Why are we all acting like it's the 1500's and we have never seen or heard about an eclipse before?" I read that somewhere and it made me laugh. It's crazy all the madness about this. Criminy...the media will hype a dead dog, I swear. We went out, the neighbor lent us his glasses...we looked...and went back to work.

I can't imagine spending that kind of money to see nothing. Bless their hearts.

Have a fabulous day and rest of the week, Ann. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. ♥

I'd heard about those high prices for hotels, one was $900. We forgot to get glasses, I actually watched a YouTube how to do something with a shoe box to look at it but decided no, and was happy to see it on the news.

We didn't have quite the total but pretty close to it.
Luckily we had a sunny day and could watch it.
I thought it was pretty cool but wouldn't travel to go see it.

I wouldn’t travel either but maybe if I was younger. Can’t see us paying those kind of prices.

I had to run out in the morning and wanted to be back before the eclipse. I was, I loved it. For me, I don't want to spend money on a hotel, however if folks wanna go out, celebrate and spend some that's cool too. That 800 for us though has to go toward a down payment on a house.

We didn't plan on looking for it in Montana. Yes, Texas was all cloudy but they get to see it for a second. We did watch all of it on the weather channel. I mean, every 300 years is pretty amazing.
