I love the white stuff

No, I have not lost my mind. I truly do love the white stuff. I'm not talking about the snow though. The white stuff I'm referring to is white chili. Have you ever had it? If not, you really should try it. Years ago, a woman that was the deli manager at the the store I work at used to make it. I've always wanted to try it at home but she was pretty secretive with her recipes. I had forgotten all about it until one day when I was doing my blog visits I came across a post on Cinnamon Spice & Everything Nice. OH my, there it was, white chili. I followed her recipe almost :) and it was delicious.

My picture really doesn't do it justice but if you go to her blog she has some amazing photos that will make your mouth water. Just a word of warning though. If you do check out her blog to snag this incredible recipe, you WILL leave there hungry.

I opened my Google Reader and this was the first thing I saw. I'm so happy you tried it - and liked it! Thanks for all the kind words!

I love visiting Reeni's blog and seeing all her yummy creations. We've made several things but not the white chili - yet! Angel & Isabella have a crush on her handsome cat Moon!

I've never heard of white chili before. I'm used to the red ones :)

Sheila, I like it even better than regular chili. it's one of my favorites

Cinnamon Girl, I'm happy I tried it too and I didn't like it I LOVED it :) You are most welcome and thank you for posting that recipe

Beaded Tail. I had heard that Moon was kind of sweet on your girls too ;)

Nessa, I always was too but once I tried this I was hooked.

I've never heard of it, but it sounds terrific! I've been lurking around the Internet the past few days trying to find recipes that I can use. Thank you, I'll give this one a try!

Your blog keeps getting better and better! Your older articles are not as good as newer ones you have a lot more creativity and originality now. Keep it up!
And according to this article, I totally agree with your opinion, but only this time! :)

Since both kinds make me poot, I suppose it is a toss-up. Of course, if the white chili made me cackle--now, that would be something to crow about! (Oh my, I can really crack myself up at times.)

junezach, that's how I feel ever time I go to cinnamon spice and everything nice.

roschelle the first time I heard of it, just from the name I thought it sounded rather gross but I was willing to try it anyway and have always loved it since

tahtimbo your welcome, if you look through cinnamon spice and everything nice you'll find a lot of really delicious looking recipes

Anonymous oh my, thank you for such a wonderful comment, you made my day. As for my opinions, I'm glad that at least this once we can see eye to eye. :)

FishHawk you crack me up all the time. Maybe you should try some beano before eating the white stuff then you could cackle, crow or even cockadoodle do if you wanted to

I've never heard of white chili...I doubt I can get it here. I love spicy food, and you're right: the recipes and amazing food pics on Reeni's blog are mouth-watering!

I have not tried white chili. I will have to check it out.

I have never tried white chili, but it looks good. I can't make it because I don't think my kids would eat it, but maybe some day when they are off with friends (I can force my husband to eat anything).

Wow, I've had red and green chili, but never white, it looks scumpt-dilly-ious. Thanks for passing this one along, this is a must try.

Have a nice weekend.

Been in the restaurant industry over 20 years and you would have thought I heard of white chili. That chicken does look good, might be a new meal for this week :-)

Yay! I have wanted to try my hand at white chili for the longest time. I'm off to check out the recipe (I don't eat it, but my family does and I do love the scent of it in my kitchen :o) Thanks Ann!

I've never even heard of white chili, I tend to stay away from chili as it usually has those beans in which I really don't like...I guess I could make my own and adapt it a little though so maybe I will check it out...thanks for the tip Ann. xx

Oh, I like that blog--lots of really good things to make! Looks like you did a good job---YUM!

Hey, Ann, thanks for the good wishes with Hobbes. He is still dragging, but I think we have lots of good signs for recovery. I appreciate your prayers and kind words more than you know.

I'm saving that one!! It looks so good and if you say it is, then I'm tryin' it :D

I've gotten quite a few ideas off that blog - I always adapt them to suit my own taste but they usually have good basic "bones".

I am obsessed with chili so white or otherwise I love it. That looks absolutely delicious. And, I love her blog.

This sounds excellent. I love chili. And I know that those same type of spices go very well with chicken. I never thought about chicken and chili specifically though. Now I definitely have to try it.

We are a chili lovin' family, but have never tried white chili. Might have to! Looks yummy :)

Ann said...

Duni I bet you could probably find suitable substitutes.

DKMiller it's very good,

Anne, lucky you, my husband is very picky and if it has something in it that he doesn't THINK he'll like, he wont even try it

Me-Me scrupt-dilly-icious and Dairy Queen doesn't serve it :)

ManOverBoard you must have been in the wrong restaurants. if you try it let me know what you think

Jen aww aren't you sweet, I wouldn't make anything I didn't like myself...lol

LDH This just seems to have the right combination of spices that make it sooooo good

JRod I think that the photos she takes are what got me so hooked on her blog. Everything looks so delicious even if it's something I don't like :)

allotments4you I think that's what most people tend to do with recipes, sort of personalize it and make it your own.

Lin that's good news about Hobbes, we'll keep sending those well wishes his way

vickie I'm a big chicken fan so if it's got chicken in it I'm bound to like it

Grace I agree, I haven't made any other recipes from there but I've read through them and what I like the most is that she uses ingredients that are easy enough to find. I hate it when I read through ingredients and have to scratch my head wondering what the heck some of that stuff is

Poetic shutterbug I've always liked chili too. I don't have it often any more because Wade isn't a fan, I only know how to cook in large quantities when it comes to chili so there just isn't much point.

Ratty When I first heard "White Chili" I thought it sounded very odd. I was sure wrong on that one.

Audrey if you like chili I bet you would like this one.

I have always wanted to try it too. Hmmm...maybe I should give it a go. I love chili, but the red kind always gives me the worst heartburn!

chillie is a great thing espeialy when it's cold outside.white or red they are both yummy!!That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Unknown said...

Oh Ann ... I thought you were talking about a new spice that I had never heard of. Good job I carried on reading your post Lol!! or I would have been Googling it all day!

I went through a phase of using chilli powder and ground chillies but at the moment tend to use fresh ginger. Perhaps it's because ginger offers so many useful side advantages: it soothes away aches and pains; aids digestion; warms and comforts; helps the body to smell sweet; well the list goes on and on. I usually peel it and grate it - I have tried boiling it but find that it is much more fruity if grated raw and added to whatever you like. :)

The white chilli is interesting though - especially with all of this freezing cold weather and endless snow! Brrrrrrrrrrrr

Ann said...

Tanyia, this was actually a bit of a change for me. When I make the red kind I've always been a little light with the chili powder since I'm not a huge fan of spicy hot stuff. But I put everything in this one and LOVED it.

Anonymous, ok

Donna LOL you're probably right

Mike I buy your story hook line and sinker :)

Kloggers glad I caught your attention :) Well Ginger sure does sound like the perfect spice. I may have to start using more of it.
