New construction

I came home from work on Friday and discovered that there was a new home being built in my neighborhood. However the new home is actually being built on my property. And to make it even worse it's being built on top of the outside lights by my front door.

Saturday morning I spotted the Builder out in the backyard collecting materials. So far I have to say this looks like a very messy construction.

Oh my goodness! Well, it is not a very well constructed nest, by any means! Could you tell what kind of bird it is? I think this home will never pass inspection. But it will be fun to watch the baby chicks if they hatch.

I'm interested too with what kind of bird built the nest. The only birds that want to build nests around us (other than the ones that build them in the saguaro cactus) are pigeons and neither hubby nor me want a pigeon nest close to us so we're always chasing them away if we see them taking up a spot on our rafters. They like the house next door for some reason and usually end up building a nest there.

And I agree. The construction is a bit messy on your building project there but perhaps that's okay for the occupants?

How fun it will be to watch the new family. You have the very same light fixtures we have!

when I read the sentence and its being built on my property my first thought was WHAT??? then it dawned on me. I am a bit slow these days. Can't wait to see who the builders are and how many grand birds you will have...

That's happening all over the place. They are messy, but the baby birds are worth the mess.

Have a fabulous day, Ann. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. ♥

Is it a mourning dove? They make the WORST nests ever and their babies fall out of them and die. It's amazing any of them make it.

Wishing you the best with this little family though! Keep us posted.

*haha* Definitely my type of "new construction", Ann. The only type of new construction worth anything, in my view. ~Andrea xoxo

Aww! Is it a Robin? Maybe brush some of Gibbs fur off for her to make her nest at least soft, if not neat!

THose birds are messy! SOme moved into one of our pine trees. They are over 50 years old.SO we often see nesting materials dropped in the yard. I love their early morning singing, not annoying like the woodpecker. Boy oh boy does he get up early. LOL.
Have a wodnerful weekend.

I have been fighting with this Robin that is trying to build a next in my expensive pull down porch shades. I don't want bird poop right where I like to sit and enjoy the front porch. My yard is full of trees, bushes and shrubs . . . they do not keep this spot! For three days I have tore it down at least a half a dozen times, I even put rubber snakes up there, but that nasty robin keeps coming back . . . by hope is that they will find another spot. This morning it even started scolding me as I was tearing it down. I enjoy the birds, especially the robins, but not on my porch. Do I sound mean . . . maybe to some of you . . . but do you want to sit and enjoy your lunch or lemonade where a bird might poop down on you? Not me.

It looks like something I would build. 😊

Bird's nests are usually neat little things. I wonder what bird this is?

Hoping you don't use that door often. I used to have a bird that would build in the corner of the decor work on my porch. It would freak her out whenever I went out the front door. Had to start using the back. Good luck getting rent from them.
