More from the antique shop

Today I've got Amanda's pictures from the antique shop.

There were tons of cookie cutters and a very cool rolling pin.

So many ornaments scattered throughout the store. I remember the big boxes of Shiny Brite ornaments that we had when I was a kid

I thought these were really pretty and I was tempted to buy one. They were $4 each.

I had to explain to my daughter what S&H green stamps were. What a blast from the past. I remember putting all those stamps in the books. I can't remember what we ever got with them.

If you aren't familiar with S&H green stamps you can read about them HERE

I got called in to work again yesterday. Even though it kind of messed up my day off I only worked for 4 hours. The only plans I had were to get the mess from decorating cleaned up and make sure the mortgage payment wad made. I accomplished both once I got home.

I collected books of green stamps! We got a pair of binoculars with them that we still have. And do you also remember the yellow stamps? They were not as popular around here, as there were not many stores to redeem them. the ornaments are really like the old days.

I still have a couple books of my Mom's S&H Green Stamps, believe it or not. I remember them well. I sometimes wonder if people grocery shop enough to earn things such as that. I think if they gave out stamps at fast food restaurants people would earn the stamps faster. *lol* Love, Andrea xoxo

yay! the boxes are UP... we used to pour over the book to see what to buy with the stamps, lots of arguing going on since there was much to choose from. mother used to pick what she NEEDED not what we wanted. I like the pan the cookie cutters are in and remember ours but it was trimmed in blue not red. a store full of old treasures.

Oh my, yes - green stamps! We got lots of stuff with them - for some reason my mother chose a milk glass punch bowl set which sat on a high sideboard in the dining room and was a catchall for little stuffs. I don't know if she ever used it for punch, we weren't exactly punch bowl party people. I got a guitar and I think we also got transistor radios - all sorts of things. (Good-o on getting the mortgage payment in - only what, 5 more? What a grand day that will be!)

My mother collects those green stamps. When she has so many books filled she'd go to the green stamp store and buy what she wanted with those stamps. She love it.

Glad you got the mortgage paid. You're getting closer and closer to being done.

Have a fabulous day and week, Ann. Big hug to you and scritches to Gibbs. ♥♥♥

I remember saving stamps and licking them to put them in the books. But, for the life of me, I don't remember ever turning them in for anything. Maybe my mom did that just to keep us quiet for awhile.
