You get more...

From a

cuz a Kenmore has so much more to give.

Yesterday was a much cooler day and since my old Kenmore is in an upstairs room I had put off opening it up until I wouldn't melt trying to sew.

It may be an old machine but it still runs like a champ. Of course there are a couple disadvantages to using an old machine. One is that you have to thread the needle by yourself. That can be quite a challenge for old eyes. The other is that it doesn't tell you when the bobbin thread is about to run out. Luckily I had enough thread on the bobbin to get me through what I was doing.

I made a total of 5 more masks but I only have a picture of 3 of them.

I made each with two different fabrics and this is reversible so you can get two different looks from the same mask.

I still have lots of fabric left so who knows I may make more.

They are great! So pretty and professional. I didn't know Kenmore made sewing machines. But their microwaves have always been top rated, I think ours is a Kenmore. Wow, I didn't now newer machines thread themselves.

You can sew very well ...
The mouth masks are fun and they have a double side too! Do I want one too ... LOL
Have a nice Sunday! Hugs from Gibbs!

YAY the old guy works fine... just like us... love the mask

This sounds a lot like me & Bud. I keep him upstairs & turn him on only when necessary!

Reversible masks...neat.

I have two Kenmore sewing machines - one at the cottage and one at home - both are workhorses and getting old like me. I did not know that some machines let you know when the bobbin thread was running low - this would be a great asset. I like your masks and for those that don't know the masks should be reversible with different fabrics so you know which side you recently wore and it's highly recommended that masks be sanitized between wearings - not nagging just saying. :) No doubt, different jurisdictions have different ideas/suggestions/rules.

Happy the Kenmore works well and you did a great job on the masks. Love that you can reverse them!

Nice looking masks...II love the fabric on the bottom one. My sister had a Kenmore that sewed good. I had one that I should have beat up with a sledgehammer!

Those masks are great. I am going to have to track down that style, we have the pleated ones and I think this style would be more comfortable especially for my husband who, being a big man has a big head. (I don't suppose you have a needle threader thingy?)

What a good machine! My mom had one and she loved it! I love those reversible masks.

You can't beat old sewing machines. I have a Singer Lightweight that was made in 1956 and it sews like a brand new machine! I haven't attempted masks yet.

Hurray for us old folks, still hanging in there!

I love those masks. :)

Ginny, thanks. Yes, the electronic machines can do lots of things and the threading itself is awesome.

Ella, thanks, I don't do a whole lot of it but I have made a few things over the years.

Anni, LOL, I just can't stop laughing at this comment. So many things I could say about this but I think I'll refrain....rofl

Kate I don't know why but I thought this was a Singer and then when I went Ito do this post I realized it said Kenmore on it. The electronic ones will tell you whe the bobbin is running out. It's nice but it can be a pain in the butt too. It will stop sewing and say bobbin is low, you can push the button to continue but it will only do a few more stitches and then stop again. A bit of a hassle when you're only sewing a short seam that you know you will have enough bobbin thread to finish.

Grace, I do actually have several needle threaders but surprisingly with my readers on I was able to thread the needle rather easily.

Carol, It is a great machine. I replaced it with a new fangled one and it's lasting longer than the new.

CheerfulMonk, Us old folks are in for the long haul :)

Oh you have a Vintage sewing machine! Sometimes these work better than electrical ones, but I agree threading can be difficult.
Love the masks you made!!

Those old machines are the BEST machines. Tanks that just never die. I have a fancy Husqvarna that does all sorts of electronic things....but it's that old BEAST...the Bernina....all steel....that I rely on for heavy duty projects. I don't really care if it threads a needle or beeps for a low bobbin....I'm old school anyway.

Well you and the sewing machine did one great job. Those masks are terrific. Have a great day.

Nice masks, you did good!
I have some needles and thread for the occasional attempt at reattaching a button, but don't own a machine. My mother in law gave me an old portable one of hers decades ago (might have tried to make a small pillow), but eventually it was given away.
