it happens sometimes

I had a cake order last Friday. It was supposed to be picked up at 4 p.m.. when I got to work Sunday morning it was still sitting there. I tried calling to find out why they hadn't picked it up but only got a voicemail. Thankfully this doesn't happen often.

I find it incredibly rude though. Of course there is always the chance that the person who took the order got the date wrong. If that were the case though, you would think they would return my call quickly to let me know that it was supposed to be for a different date. If they never call this will get cut up into single serve pieces and put out to sell that way.

On a side note, Grace recently asked if anyone ever ordered a cake with chocolate frosting. I rarely have anyone ever ask for chocolate frosting. I used to order chocolate frosting in but it was going bad before I used it all so I quit ordering it. Personally, I would rather have chocolate. Oddly enough, the yellow cakes sell way more than the chocolate ones. I don't get that. Chocolate is always my first choice.

How STRANGE that most people don't seem to like chocolate frosting! I love it!! But I guess vanilla is a good choice for a group of people, most of them would like vanilla. I am thinking that the store may get more money by selling the cake piece by piece.

That is rude! Even if the store doesn't lose money on it, it's still a lot of work for you.

I think there are people who can't/don't eat chocolage and vanilla almost every one can. once my boys went to a birthday party, my friend Madelines oldest was 10. mine were 8 and 10, and there were about 10 boys. OUCH. anyway, she had choc cake/choc icing and choc icecream, neither of my boys ate anything choc thn or now, except for a candy bar here and there. she was shocked to the core, she said she never knew anyone that did not like choc cake and ice cream. I eat it all but love vanilla best.

I don't bake many frosted cakes, only one actually and it is a dark chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting. I suppose I could add cocoa to the cream cheese frosting to make it chocolate. But speaking of weird cakes - when I got married my sister-in-law arranged the whole thing (which is a whole 'nother story) and she knew I wanted a chocolate cake BUT the eldest sister and matriarch of the family hated chocolate so my sister-in-law ordered a sheet cake that was half yellow cake with white frosting and half chocolate cake with chocolate frosting!

What a shame that the cake wasn't picked up. I'll bet there is a story there.

Rarely eat cake, but every now and then I do. Hubby and I go for chocolate cake with chocolate frosting. An overload of chocolate.

Have a fabulous day off, Ann. Big hug to you and lots of scritches to Gibbs. ♥

I guess that is why some of the bakeries here ask for payment upfront for cake orders; in case they don't get picked up. Shame though because someone went through all the effort to have it ready, etc. I hope nothing happened to the people that the cake was the recipient for and that is why it didn't get picked up. Probably some type of duplicate order or something like that. I like chocolate frosting but it seems the cakes we order are always white frosting and marble flavors (DIL's favorite so its the grand kids favorite too lol :)

They must have ordered one somewhere else but at least they could have let you know! I'm sure it will sell well in pieces though! Chocolate cake with chocolate frosting is my absolute favorite cake of all time!

That's too bad about the cake. I'm surprised people don't order chocolate frosting. It sounds good to me!

Chocolate is my first choice too Ann. In fact, I'm surprised the yellow is more popular. I don't get that either. Sorry about the cake, it is rude not to get in touch and I would be wondering why? Maybe you will hear back eventually.

I'm with you, chocolate for me.
Oh all that work and then it doesn't get picked up. Yes, that is rude and like you said they could have called you back if there was a date mixup.
You did a great job on the cake anyway!!
