I had gotten a letter from OVR saying that the authorization had gone through for my hearing aids. Last Monday I had an appointment with the audiologist and got the new ones all set up.
This place I am going and the doctor I'm seeing are simply amazing. I can't say enough about how wonderful they are. Dr. Kelly really advocates for her patients and gets them what they need. I let her know how amazing I thought she was too.
Let me just say that technology has come a long way since my first pair of hearing aids and that was only five years ago. These can actually detect when if I fall and they will send a text message to anyone I have sent an invite to if I don't respond withing a certain amount of time. It can also translate for you. If you are talking to someone who is speaking another language, the hearing aids will translate for you. Not quite sure how that one works but I don't see myself needing it.
Another cool feature is that it can track my activity. Here is a screenshot of the details it will give me.
They really are quite impressive. I go back in another 2 weeks and I think I may have to talk to her about some settings. I don't notice it so much with voices but I hear a bit of an echo on certain noises. It gets a bit annoying.
Finally across the street from their office I saw this cool mural painted on the side of a building.

This is almost unbelievable! Phil has tried about three different ones, and none worked!! He even had an audiologist set one up just for him. Did not help.

That’s wonderful Ann, and great that you have found someone who takes such amazing care of you. That means a lot! I liked the look of the mural. Such a cheery sight that would be.
murals seem to be the IN or Trending thing now. in every country accros the world. this is really bright and cheerful and turns an ugly blank wall into a piece of art. wow and wow again on all the aids can do. bob's are 11 years old and i wish he would get the new ones. amazing what they can do and a wonderful safety net for a fall. or even a car crash
Wowzie - instant translator? Tracking your activity? They sound so terrific - like having one of those fancy Apple watches but in your ears - Cool!
very happy to hear, lol, about your great hearing aid experience. I checked out their website but did not see any brands of aids. Mine were pricey and are now 5 years old. Unfortunately I do not live in western PA anymore or I would certainly go to this specialist. Thanks for the glowing recommendation, Anne.

That really does sound like an awesome doctor. Hearing is so important, I'm glad these seem to be working well for you. That is a lot of technology in a hearing aid. Who knew??
I am glad you are liking the doctor and so nice of her to let you keep the other pair and the batteries. That is definitely pretty amazing the features that they have. They have come a long way. Hope you get your questions answered and you can get that echo figured out. That is a pretty mural you saw.
