The giving box

A while back someone put up a box with doors in the parking lot of the local library. People can drop things off or see what's available to help feed their families.

I've seen it stuffed full and I've seen it almost empty. A nice way to give to our neighbors who need a little helping hand.

These are very thoughtful and very giving to others. A lot of good people out there.

Believe it or not I just read about these the past week. When I saw the pic, before reading, I thought it was going to be one of the little free libraries.

I took thought it was a library. This is a great idea because it allows the person to pick what they want or need, when donations are give to a person sometimes it is wasted because they either can't eat what was chosen or have someone who will not eat it..this would be a good idea for homeless, but put things that don't need to be cooked or in a fridge. also I like to looks of the cabinet

I think it's great! Here, we have the mini library boxes, but I rarely see the food ones.

I've only seen one food pantry in my area but there are several mini libraries around.

That is a great idea.

I've heard a lot about these but haven't seen one here. We do have a lot of little libraries around. One right across the street from us. It's cute and it's SUCH a good idea.

Love this idea, both for books and especially for food. Of course, I donate my books to the library but sometimes if I pass a library box, I make a donation.

Very good idea,
I like that the person in need will choose and get what they want!

That's an awesome thing to do. I love it!

We don't have anything like that, but we do have an organization that collects food and gives it to people who need it. I assume the recipients have a choice about what they take. Anyway I think those giving boxes are a thoughtful idea.
