Contemplating

You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition.  What you'll discover will be wonderful.  What you'll discover is yourself.  ~Alan Alda

A little self portrait, a little thinking about who I am and what I want, and a few quotes I found along the way.

It is good to feel lost... because it proves you have a navigational sense of where "Home" is.  You know that a place that feels like being found exists.  And maybe your current location isn't that place but, Hallelujah, that unsettled, uneasy feeling of lost-ness just brought you closer to it.  ~Erika Harris, lifeblazing.com

and finally, one of my favorites
It's a helluva start, being able to recognize what makes you happy.  ~Lucille Ball

Whatever you may be doing with your weekend, I hope that you enjoy it.

I really like this picture of you Ann. It looks as though you are contemplating world peace...or inner peace, even better.

Hello Ann, You remind me of myself when I recently had a go at juggling the camera whilst looking in the mirror hoping to click at the right point. This was done as my daughter asked me to forward a new snap of myslef. Of course, she had done several and they appeared on Facebook looking positively amazing. How hard can it possibly be thought I to myself - until I tried. It's amazing how especially if trying to use the aid of a mirror how the camera tends to get shoved in the wrong direction ... but life is meant to be fun ... so it's fun having a go no matter what the outcome.

You appear to have conquered the whole technique with the flair of a professional. The result is a thoughtful, reflective and provoking portrait. Delightful ... I couldn't even show my attempts for they were not anywhere near as perfect as yours - but they did make me laugh - so perhaps it was worth the effort. :)

Some lovely quotes Ann...they really make you stop and think...I have two favourite quotes which I'm going to share with you;

Believe in the magic of your dreams.

If you love something set it free, If it is yours it will come back to you....If it doesn't it never was!!

I adapted this once when I was younger for a very intense valentines card after I broke up with a boyfriend...I was only 15 at the time and it seemed so major...it really wasn't when I look back on it now..however me and the guy are still friends 20 years down the line!!

Oh, oh, I just LOVE thinking about myself! For I am the most interesting person I know of, and have I failed to mention lately just how good looking I am?

Donna, thanks and yes reflection is very good, it beats pity any day :)

Lenox Knits thanks so much. The lucille ball one has been a favorite of mine for quite some time.

grace, thank you

kloggers LOL my daughter is expert at the extended arm self portrait. I on the other hand, not so good. I actually used a tripod to do this one. You can get some really funny shots of yourself when doing self portraits though. Sometimes laughing at yourself can be very entertaining and theraputic.

Audrey I just love quotes. They make me stop and think a little. You have a great day yourself.

allotments4you LOL I just said the same thing in my response to audrey. Thanks for sharing your quotes with me. You fed my addiction for them.

FishHawk you're the most interesting person I know of too :) You did once make a comment regarding your looks however I don't recall it being a flattering description.

Junezach I have a couple of sites that I browse through from time to time searching for quotes. I find them to be very inspirational.

Oh, I was just being too modest before, which is another rather endearing quality of mine.

Wonderful post! I love the quote from L. Ball :) Its so very true... Sometimes with all the worlds noise its hard to be quiet enough to listen to what it is that really does make us happy and whole.

Great food for thought :)

poetic shutterbug yes they do I just wish that I didn't forget about them so often.
