I think I need a one way ticket out of here after the high anxiety morning I had today
Neither one of us could miss work so we had to leave and hope for the best when we got home.
The drive was anything but pleasurable. We had rain, we had fog (thick as pea soup) we had flooding and we had huge ice chunks washing in to the road. I have never been so happy to reach my destination as I was this morning. Yikes, that was scary.
I came home at lunch time to check on the basement and the water level in the back yard was receding and the basement hadn't taken on any more.
All is calm in my world once again. I'm giving myself the nigh off from any responsibility of any kind and I'm putting my feet up and taking it easy.
I am glad it didnt get any worse at least!
I understand your feeling. I had that last spring, no fun. Hopefully you don't have much to clean up.
Frantic times, I have a lttle generator I have been lucky never to use, but my sump has been going for 2-3 weeks.Hope nothing was wrecked.I had the storm here about 9pm and it froze all over.
Glad that you arrived at work safely and the basement didn't get flooded! Yikes!
Oh you poor girl ~ what a day! I hope your feet are up, that you are under a snuggy blanket and for sure taking it easy. You deserve it!
Oh man!!! So no damage to your basement? You must have been so miserable at work! This weather is just crazy, same here!
What a day you had! Happy to hear the basement didn't turn into a big problem. Hope you rest well tonight and tomorrow is a good one!
What a day, Ann!! Especially driving in bad weather and broken sump pumps....2 of my own biggest nightmares. Yes, relax now by all means!
That does not sound like a good way to start the week! Glad your basement didn't flood though and hope you're able to relax this evening!
I'm so sorry to hear this. This is NOT the way to start the week. I hope you can get the pump fixed and that everything turns out okay.
Hope you have a nice, relaxing evening.
I'm so sorry about the sump pump! I hope it's a relatively easy clean-up. Putting your feet up sounds like a great idea. Hope tomorrow is a brighter day for you!
Whoa, you-all really did have quite a time. Did you put a life-preserver on Duke before you left?
Oh no! Ick. Hopefully the pump will be an easy repair (I'd forgotten about those things). We don't have them down here; mostly 'cause we don't have basements *grin*.
Sure hope today is a better day for you girl!
Hope you get dried out soon. Maybe that awful storm marks the end of winter? Let's hope so ...
Not fun waking up to something like that. It has happened to me in the past.I bought a house one time with no sump pump. It had the sump hole but was hidden under the stairs. One day here came the water. Flooded the entire basement. Ruined a few good rugs and some furniture. Also real fun cleaning up. Luckily we had a floor drain in the laundry room.
Good luck with the water.
so happy it did not get worse and you were to work safe and sound. hope the sump pump gets fixed in time for the next rain. we don't have basements in FL but I know about sump pumps from friends who live up north. what is a coin tainer?
I'm glad it didn't get any worse and that you didn't have to build Duke a boat. I know he likes to swim but the basement probably isn't the best place for that.
Good idea, that sounds like the right thing to do after such a stressful morning. Nothing worse than driving in bad weather. Hope tomorrow is better for you. Take care.
Wow- I just saw on the news that every county in Ohio is under a flood watch. That's scary. You are over near Cleveland?

tahtimbo no fixing the pump, it served 24 years in the basement and it's time is done
marie just wait for it to all dry up then scrape up the mud, yuck

jen nope, pump is dead, 24 years old and had enough.
philippa you think I would be used to it by now, happens every year
russ oh that would be the pits, this pump was the original so it's served it's time

anne I would rather he swam in the pool...lol
marg i should probably rest again just for good measure...lol
sharkbytes we're on the ohio pennsylvania border so a ways away from Cleveland but we had flood watches and warnings yesterday
THat sure is a scary drive.. glad you are ok. Spring is coming.. hang in there.
All that stress in one day. No fun!!!!
So glad everything turned out ok!! The drive alone would have scared me to death....let alone worring about the basement!
anny it was scary, I'm hanging on but I'm losing my grip
tammy tell me about it :)
gayle it was white knuckle all the way.
Oh my goodness!! I'm just now catching up, but I do hope you had a chance to relax a bit. That is so scary :(
DSS, ah yes catching up, seems I'm always doing that these days. Yes, I did have a chance to relax and all turned out ok in the end
After your day I feel ashamed for complaining about my little episodes. Glad it receded since you had to leave, phew!
Miawa, ah well sometimes we just have days like this don't we :)
