Yeah, it's Friday. For the next two days I can do whatever I want. I guess it's time for me to get back in the swing of things too. My cutting back really wasn't what I was expecting. I still did a lot of reading and didn't cut back too much on my commenting. I still managed to get a post up every day. I also got in some crafting time. I think the crafting is what I've been missing the most. I've always felt lost if I didn't have at least one project going and I got away from it. I'm finding my way back to it though and trying to fit it in more and more.
So now you are probably expecting to see some pictures of the fabulous things I've been working on right? Well, you're not going to see them because today I'm going to show you who (or maybe I should say what) was hanging out on the deck with me the other day. (Grace, you may not want to look at this)

Oh no! More BUG-Photography!! Very good pics.
Thanks for visiting my posts!
Hugs,
Anna
Oh crappy dap! The first one wasn't so bad but the second one - what the heck is that?
Those wings look so cool! I never thought I would say a bug was pretty...
This is an excellent picture. I like closeup bug pictures. These creatures may seem ugly most of the time, but closeups show their real beauty.
Anna, ha ha, I can't resist bugging people
Grace I told you not to look...lol I believe it's called a cicada
Reeni they do have cool wings, they remind me of the wings on a dragonfly
That's one of the prettier cicada's.
I have to admit that I would not want to look on my shoulder and see that thing looking back at me.
"Nice" bug! We have mostly flies and mosquitoes.
we have plenty of these cicadas especially during their mating season and they're very noisy!! i think it's a delicacy in some countries too...
I love photos of bugs. This one is very cool!
TGIF!!!
We don't have those out here but I remember them well from Kansas. I used to catch them and also find their skins but looking at it now, I think I was nuts!
Have a great weekend!
Good capture, Ann! Very detailed. They look different up close -esp with that green shade. :)
This would be a good time for Duke to come to the rescue--wouldn't it? Yeah, that bug may be gigantic, but Duke has the heart of a lion!
That's an interesting insect and great close-up shot!
Ewwww....I don't do bugs. But the shots are great!
Blech! We do NOT like flies around here :o)
Looks like he's brand New! They really Are pretty but their Singing is LOUD!
Great shots Ann!
hughugs
Nice macro shot, these are fun for me.If you pick them up they have 2 membranes on the underside they rub to make their sound.I did a video the other day and the sound grew with the direction I was pointed at.
urban cowboy, pretty isn't exactly the word I would use but ok..lol
tahtimbo I'm very thankful he landed where he did and NOT on my shoulder
Audrey oh we've got plenty of those too
Nessa I did read about them being a delicacy but I think I'll pass on that dish
Jean me too, at least in a photo they can't jump out at you
beaded tail, I was reading about them and saw how they shed their skins. all I can say is ewwwwww
tes thanks, i was fascinated by the wings
fishhawk duke was too busy worrying about swimming to rescue me from the big bad bug
duni I thought it was too, the wings and the bulgy eyes were just too cool
roshcelle, lol I'm not a big bug fan but I like to get pictures of them
Jen I agree with the blech but I have to get pictures before I shoo them off
donna I don't remember ever seeing one of these up close before so new or old i have no clue, just couldn't resist getting his pic
out on the prairie pick them up? are you crazy? I don't pick up bugs I just take their picture....lol
Ratty I like closeup pictures more than actually being close up to the bugs. The photos do show details that you would otherwise miss, guess that's why I love taking them.
What the heck is that?!
I think I will tell my wife to start saving up her money. I need a camera that can take good closeups with out being closeup.
Wonderful Pictures.
For a bug it's very pretty.
Lisa, it's called a cicada
Russ, actually I was pretty close to it when I took the pictures. Closer than I would have liked to be
b boys mom I thought it's wings were pretty but the rest of him I found a little creepy :)
Wow, the body looks metallic - like a coat of armor! Fab pictures. I love sleeping with the windows open on summer nights so I can hear the crickets and cicadas as I fall asleep. Lately it's been too hot to do that though.
Ann thanks. I always keep the windows open at night and since I have a constant ringing in my ears anyway I barely hear any of the sounds from outside
