rain rain go away

Last night we had rain. Lots of rain. It's not that I don't like a good rain storm now and then but I would prefer that it didn't do this.
The first picture shows mostly my neighbors back yard. To the right where the water makes a bit of a turn is about where my yard starts. You'll notice that the water is all going into a large drain that we have on that side of the pool. However, the water starts doing this
Which means the drain is getting full and not much more water will be going down there. Instead it will continue on past the pool and proceed directly into my basement. This problem just seems to get worse ever year. There are supposed to be strong storms again tonight and tomorrow so I may be camped out in my basement keeping watch. We're trying to keep it from getting to the side of the basement that we're doing the work on. Keep your fingers crossed.

Wowser, that looks like a whole heck of a lot of rain. Hope it stops raining really soon there or you are going to need a boat for your basement. At least all your plants are getting plenty of water.

Got my fingers and toes crossed. Can you pump it to the street and those drains? I've seen folks do that around here. That's a lot of water indeed.

Have a terrific evening and stay dry. My best to Duke. :)

Marg it was raining so hard it wasn't even funny. Right now no rain, but it's supposed to start tonight some time

Sandee we probably could but even those are full. The street was also flooded

Erika I'm used to it happening but it doesn't make it any more pleasant

Leontien you have a lake too huh?...lol

Oh No! I hope it doesn't get into your basement! I grew up in a house that often get water in the basement. We did a lot of bailing.

You may have to invest in some drainage tiles to correct that. My mom had that problem and with some (well, lots) of hard work and drain tiles, it is now routed to the storm sewer.

I hope you make out okay!! I will keep you in my prayers tonight.

That is so scary! I sure hope it stops! We have had snow and rain storms constantly since Saturday! ;/

Oh, gosh, is there any way to stop this? Maybe digging a trench or something? We are to get more bad storms tomorrow, too. Hope all will be well and no water comes in.

Oh, no! let's hope the weather people are wrong because most of the times they were wrong.

Whoa! That's a lot of water! I hope none of it ends up in your basement! Keep Duke safe when he goes outside so he doesn't wash away!

Oh oh ~ now that is just too too much! Mother Nature ~ she doesn't seem to have her quantities of weather all figured out.

It started raining here early this evening and it is still raining now. It's freshening up everything but we don't need too much ~ we've had flooding already!

Hopefully the rain stops soon and stays out of your basement. I am sending you good thoughts and keeping my fingers crossed for you Ann!

There has to be some solution that will take care of enough of the water so it doesn't reach your basement. Pricey, I know but in the long run worth it I think. We now have 3 sump pumps in the basement.

Wow- I talked to a friend in western NY today who said they have had too much rain too. We haven't had enough, but we got quite a lot today. Hope you don't have that basement problem.

Dang! The weather is so weird. Mother Nature must be very angry. We are facing severe storms tomorrow. Wishing and praying that you don't suffer any water damage.

Hi Ann! I miss you and Duke a lot.
I've been out in the blogging world for more than a month. Just want to inform you that my new blog address now is http://blog.junezach.com . If you have any links redirected to my blog, you can now update it with this new URL. Thank you very much! Hope everything is well with you! Hugs! :D

P.S.
While you want the rain to go away in your place, here in the Philippines it is freaking hot! Whew!

I could use some of your rain Ann.. its so humid here... even aircon doesn't help at all.

Hope everything goes well with your basement. When it rains.. it doesn't have to come all at once.

It has been raining here for the past 5 days, and more is supposed to be on the way. Please don't forget to put a life-preserver on Duke!

Hope your basement doesn't flood. It all looks scary. Please send some water over here to the UK ... we need it!

We are pretty much having the opposite problem...we seem to go bone dry and then have a horrendous downpour (which is more destructive than productive *sigh*). Sure hope it stays away from that basement!!

That is some crazy water flow you have there. Hope it stops raining long enough so your basement doesn't get wet.

Oh no!
we've had rain since last night, but not this much! Keeping fingers crossed for you :)

fingers and toes are crossed. we have the same problem but no basement, our water runs through our garage if it gets like this, hubby is out there with a shovel when it does this, making a ditch for it to flow away from the pool area and around the house, not through the garage. sorry to hear you are in the path of the storm. stay safe

Reminds me of a draw under some trees I set my tent up on a few years back, forgetting what rain can do. I had that river gong under me.

Wow! That looks like a mini whirlpool. I look at it and I am a little jealous. We have not had any significant rain in 3 months.
Good luck with keeping it out of the basement.

I hope you didn't flood! That is a lot of water. I wonder if there is anything you can do with it.

Wow you really have a lot of water. Hope your storms were not to bad last night. It has been raining here all day.

Scary -- hope your basement doesn't get flooded. Too much rain is as bad as too little. We are experiencing too little. My heart goes out to you though because it is quite unnerving to watch water come closer and closer to your door step.

Wow...that's a lot of rain....when it comes down really heavy here our carport floods but luckily the garden levels before it can seep into the house. We haven't seen any rain apart from the odd spot since march though...maybe you have Englands rainfall too!!
