They say that practice makes perfect. I'm not there yet. But it's ok because I have fun practicing. I made a couple of cards just for fun the other day.
Here's one with a close up of the quilled pieces blended together in one picture.
Let me tell you, that hummingbird was a real treat. That sucker has some really, and I mean REALLY small pieces. He's far from perfect but I couldn't just throw him away so I plopped him on a card. The other bird is supposed to have one of those little google eyes on it but I didn't have any so he didn't get one. Although I noticed after I glued him down that there is a little speck of white on the picture underneath him so my story is that I purposely placed him there so that the speck could serve as his eye. Yep that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I like these very much. You are indeed talented. I wouldn't even know where to start on something like this.
Have a terrific day. My best to Duke. :)
Like how you put all together, wonderful job!
they are terrific. I can't imagine having the patience or dexterity to do something like that.
I love how you combined your photography, quilling and paper crafts in one! I think they both turned out lovely!
Hugs to Duke!
Bless your heart, you are so creative! Both birds are great but I do especially love the hummer! Very sweet cards!
wow Ann that is so artistic. you're such av very talented lady.
These look much better than mediocre. They're very enjoyable to look at, so I think they're great.
I think they look perfect. Truly talented lil' Annie. I love it!!
Ann, I love the hummingbird.
I did finally get my quilling stuff, and so far I have attempted a tight coil flower only lol
Like all artist I know you see the so called flaws which we don't.:)
Beautiful creations!
I can see from your picture that the hummingbird part is the most tedious.
Need a great skill to stick those rolls of paper vertically.
Those are incredible! There's nothing mediocre about those. I'd buy them ( of course there's the whole not having money issue, but you know what I mean) :)
I loved these! You have a lot of patience!
These are fantastic, Ann - I love the hummingbird! Not mediocre at all!
Dear Ann,
Thank you for dropping by and leaving such a funny remark. I think Sara Cat really needed to hear that! Sure put a smile on my face!
Talking about these lovely images here on your post, I don't see anything that is wrong with them. They're fine!
Maybe I don't know enough about quilling. Quilling is something new to me. But I find your pictures very charming. I like them. I don't really know how they could be better.
Maybe you are critical because you have learned so much about this craft that you demand more and more from your work. (I do this myself sometimes.) Just don't 'throw the baby out with the bath-water'. You make beautiful pieces!
Hugs,
Anna
Yep, those cards sure do look mediocre, which is like calling a Rembrandt painting average for a grand master. Nice try at being humble, SHOW OFF!
Ann that quilling must be very time consuming. And like everyone else said I think they are wonderful. I like the card with the park bench. It does however need a humming bird.LOL
How adorable! I don't think it would look good with a google eye....I think it is perfect just the way it is :)
Wow - I love the birds! Of course now I'm wondering how long it will take you to get around to quilling Duke (seeing as how you're on a roll and all...)
:o)
Well, I am impressed. Even if these are just practice!
I think they are amazing and you are very talented. I love how you do the quilled birds.
But it's such a good work, of course you didn't throw the little bird away! It's always so nice to see your works.
LOl, love the white spot as the eye. That is perfect. See if you hadn't said anything, everyone would have thought it was supposed to be there. Those cards are really well done. I would love to be able to do something like that.
Sandee thank you very much. Starting isn't my problem, it's finishing...lol
Out on the prairie thanks, I got the idea from Philippa :)
Grace sometimes the hands do have a problem with the really small pieces, that's when tweezers come in handy
Beaded tail thanks, an idea lifted from another creative mind
LDH I really liked the hummingbird but it was so small to work with,
January thanks, I have fun with it any way
Ratty well I'm glad you enjoy them. I do too but I can see all my mistakes :)
Roschelle thank you very much. The lil' Annie cracked me up because I had an aunt named Ann so another Aunt always referred to us as big Annie and little Annie...lol
Tanyia oh cool, I can't wait to see what you do, I'm sure you'll be a master in now time
Jean yes it's terrible how I can pick apart everything I make and see every little thing I did wrong. It's a curse :)
Vanilla seven yes the hummingbird is really small, tweezers come in handy
tahtimbo ah yes I know what you mean, there are tons of things I would buy if it wasn't for the whole not having money
Bossy Betty it's easy to be patient these days without kids in the house any more...lol
Philippa thanks so much. Maybe some day mine will look as good as yours
Anna I'm glad I could make Sara cat smile :) I think we are all our own worst critics. It's horrible that everyone else can see something good and we see flaws
FishHawk I'm sure that Rembrandt felt that way about some of his paintings. I guess no matter which route I take you'll still call me a show off :)
Russ some of the pieces aren't too bad but some can get a little more involved. Not something I attempt when I'm tired
Lisa I never really liked the google eyes for some reason
Jen Well I just may attempt to quill Duke, that would be something
Nico thanks, half the fun is in the practice
Anne, thank you very much. I saw the birds on another website and fell in love with them
Fullet I have a hard time throwing things away. After putting the time into it, even if I don't think it's very good, I still hold on to it
Ann, these are adorable. Oh, how I wish I could do that. I love cards but do not have the talent to create them as you do. Do you sell these?
poetic shutterbug thanks, as of yet I don't sell anything. Everything I make either sits around in my craft room or is given away. Maybe one of these days I will start selling
Marg, oops don't know how I missed your comment earlier. we must have been typing at the same time. You should give quilling a try, it's really not as hard as it may look.
They are great, I love the birds.
Miawa, thanks, I'm still learning so they do look pretty rough to me, hopefully my skills improve :)
