I don't think that the Autumn colors are going to be as spectacular as they have been in past years. What I've been seeing is trees that have spots of color. Some have already lost all their leaves, some are still all green.
Like these trees in my backyard. The pear tree is half bear and the leaves that are there are a lovely color. The tree behind it is still all green.
At least I have my marigolds to give me the bright fall colors.
I've been wanting to take a drive to get some pictures but the weather over the past weekend wasn't the most pleasant. It was more suited to staying inside curled up under a blanket. There may be plenty of people who would disagree with me on that one but if I can find a reason to sit at home and do nothing, I'm running with it.

Our colors will all be gone by this weekend. Yours are pretty, I hope you get the pictures and I love being under a blanket too! :D
Your flowers are pretty. Our colors are in all different stages too. I agree, sometimes it's just best to stay home all cozy instead of trekking out to see the leaves!
I like marigolds, always have. I even like their scent. brrr - chilly and damp here - blanket weather for sure.
Very pretty marigolds... they were my dad's favorite flower. I am wondering about the fall foliage too since we have had so little rain all summer. Still hoping for great colors!
nicely done..I love the colors of Fall just not the weather that follows..:)
We're hardly getting any changes here, either. It was a really weird summer and the fall is shaping up to be just as strange. It's like the seasons are confused or something.
Those marigolds are just luscious!
I've got to try marigolds next year in my little planters - so pretty!
You are lucky to have those pretty Marigolds. I lost mine due to the drought.
Sitting around doing nothing sounds wonderful!!!
I love Autumn and the colors are just so beautiful. Lovely images dear. :)
Ann, what gorgeous colors and composition on that first shot. I love it. Your marigolds are striking and just beautiful.
It all depends upon how much rain you-all got. For too little will cause the leaves to go dead brown and fall off real quick. Whereas, too much will keep many leaves from turning yellow, orange and red before they fall off.
I can't tell you how happy we all are at my house that fall is HERE and it is cooling off outside :o) Woo-Hoo...and I sure do love those Marigolds!
great shots. i love the second one!!
Good thing you did venture out - otherwise you wouldn't have been able to share your pretty autumnal flowers with us :)
Oh, I love Marigolds. It's like growing your own sunshine. The leaves here aren't as pretty as they usually are. We've had mostly rain for the past week. Maybe after the first frost they will change colors. And I love staying home curled up under a blanket. It's my happy place. :)
We have had a very dry summer. Of it is making up for it now. I'd like to see the sun so we can get some pictures. Nice pictures you have.
I put the marigolds in for their lasting past a frost even. Lots of color here. Was surprised you knew my neighbors, the O Reily's. Small world.
I have to agree that the marigolds are gorgeous. A lot of leaves have fallen off here and I think it is from not having any rain. But so far we don't have any fall color.
Take care and have a super day.
I'm so with you there. I'm hoping the colors take their time to develop and then really pop in early November when i'll be taking a small road trip. We shall see. I did see a few pretty colors on my way to work today but I haven't seen anything that has blown me away. I really wish I was home under my blankets today too. It's the perfect day for it.
I have been wanting to get out and take some pictures too but the weather has been bad when I have time. Maybe this weekend. You are right the color is spotted.
The same with me, I wanted to go out and take some fall picture for my blog banner, I am not a good photographer at all. But when there were a ton of pictures, there tent to be one that I can use.
The weather? I had been turning on the heat at night for my children.
Love the Marigold photo - it's such a happy little flower!
I'm noticing a lack of color around our neighborhood too! Maybe I'll go out searching for some color this coming weekend ~ probably not though! Too much on my "to do" list. Plus a little time doing nothing at home would be good too. I think that would be a better choice right now!
Julie and you have had such beautiful color in your neck of the woods too. how sad to see it go
beaded tail most days are best to stay home all cozy...lol
Ann I've always liked the smell of marigolds too, I thought I was the only one :)
LDH we didn't get much rain either, so it's not very promising
livintheblues thanks, and I'm with you bring on the color but keep the cold away, brrrrrrrrrr
tahtimbo it almost feels like it's skipping right over fall and moving into winter around here
sharkbytes I love marigolds always have
grace oh you should. personally I think they are one of the easiest flowers to grow, If I can grow them anyone can :)
jean ya know these didn't even get all that much water over the summer but they did fabulous
wild rose thanks, I love the colors too but hate the colder weather
poetic shutterbug why thank you, I just pointed up at the sky and shot :) The marigold are such a wonderful splash of color in my yard
fishhawk we seem to be getting a little of both reactions but had a pretty dry summer
Jen I'm glad someone is happy cuz it's sure not me. I'm already freezing
roschelle that one is my favorite too, I love how bright they are
duni only as far as my yard though, that was enough for me :)
Leeuna I like that, growing your own sunshine. I'm going to have to remember that one
russ here too and the rain has been plentiful the last several days, it's making it rather unpleasant
out on the prairie, I put them in because they were free...lol got them from work, they were going to throw them all out. Of course I know the O Reily's, I can't tell you how many episodes of M.A.S.H. I watched over the years, Loved Radar.
Marg we have a little color but not much
Lenox knits Lets hope your colors pop for your road trip, it'll make for some stunning photography.
B boys mom this weekend is supposed to be a little nicer and I'll be out with a friend on Sunday. Hopefully I'll get some shots
Helen yep, my husband turned our furnace on last weekend. Me, I would have waited and complained how cold it was but he gave in...lol. Believe me when I go out taking pictures, there are more bad than good ones.
marie, very happy, can't help but smile when you see that color. I've opted for the "doing nothing" more and more lately.
I agree Ann, the trees around my house are turning right to brown and falling off. I'm so sad, this is my favorite time of the year.
Up until this week it's been in the 90's.....I am so glad for cooler weather!!
Me too Annie, you know I love my sofa, a drink and my plaid blankie.
Reeni it is sad, the color is the best part of the season
gayle I wish we still had those kind of temperatures
miawa, a sofa, a drink and a blankie is the bestest combination there is.
