The Brenda Photo Challenge (3-19) before and after

It's another Brenda Photo Challenge and this one is before and after. This was posted at just the right time for me. I had just finished doing an edit to an old picture and I was getting ready to post it on my blog. Well then I read the theme for the challenge and knew that I had to hold off and save it.
I used a textured overlay on the photo. The texture was a freebie I got from Kim Klassen cafe. (at least I'm pretty sure that's the texture I used) Why oh why don't I ever write these things down?
So lets get on with the picture already shall we.
This is the original picture that I took last summer

And this is the after
I wish I could tell you exactly what I did here but again, I don't remember. I may or may not have adjusted the brightness and contrast. I can tell you that the texture was layered over the original picture and I most likely used the soft light blending mode. I tend to do a lot of playing around until I like the way it looks.

If all goes according to plan I will be spending most of my Saturday doing some much needed cleaning and hopefully working on a few projects I have started. I will get around to checking out all the other entries but probably not until Saturday night.
Check out the rest of the entries on the Brenda Photo Challenge. Just keep in mind that I post mine the night before so others may not have theirs up yet.

Both those photos are beautiful! I really do plan on working in my Photoshop when I have time to play around with it this summer.

Enjoy your Saturday and hopefully you spend more time of fun projects than cleaning!

Hi Ann, I love your before and after picture of that gorgeous rose. You are fairly new to my blog so you may not know that we grow roses (hubby that is)... We have over 50 different rose bushes in our yard... I get to enjoy them when he brings one inside for me most every day all spring/summer/fall....

Fabulous picture. Can't wait 'til we get some roses.
Hugs,
Betsy

A great photo and a great edit Ann...I am intrigued as to how you managed to add all that texture and yet leave the raindrops so clear and pure...it does make it look great!

The rose is really lovely.

You did a great job with this one. I've been experimenting with things like this too. Maybe I'll have an eye for it one day.

The original is amazing, however I LOVE how you edited the photo to become shabby chic!

That is SO cool! I love the look of the overlay (leave it to you, Ms. Awesome ;o)

Well, it is sure hard to smart-off something about a beautiful picture like that. Yeah, I know Duke is really disappointed in me right now, and it probably won't be the last time, neither. Sigh.

They are both great. I am not sure which one I like the best.

Dear Ann,
Pretty pictures! Both the 'before' and the 'after'!
Thanks so much for visiting and commenting on my Saturday Centus post.
I am in the middle of looking for a new home and am planning packing & moving. Whew! My blogging will suffer for a time, I'm afraid to say.
Best wishes & hugs,
Anna

Thanks for your kind comments on my pics. The Topaz plug-in program I used for the Grand Canyon picture is Adjust. I also have their Simply program and used it on the painterly version for the woodpecker. Please do the free trial sometime!

Very nice! Looks more like a work of art than a photograph!

Well whatever you did it's great. As always.

I've been meaning to tell you that I love your new header.

Have a terrific weekend. My best to Duke. :)

I can't decide which I like better - the first one has a really fresh appearance while the second (after) photo looks sort of melancholy or antiqued in a way - I like them both, but I suppose it depends what you use it for. I just love the dew drops on that rose. Nice job!

Have a good Saturday!

I'm done planting outside because it's got so hot already and that always makes me cranky - I actually may have to turn on the AC today...(sigh!) I'm not ready for the heat....

Wow, that looks really good! It looks like a water colour painting now.

I love how adding the texture gave the photo a vintage look. Very appealing!
