OUCH!!

Yes, I'm feeling muscles I never knew I had today and they are screaming at me for doing all that work yesterday. But it was well worth it. We finished the job finally at 8:00 last night. Now I have a huge mess to clean up and tons of dust but that's the easy part.
Duke supervised the whole project and kept a close eye on things to make sure it was all being done right.

Here's a look at the living room from the kitchen. My house isn't very big but this picture makes it look even smaller.

We had to move all the furniture to the one end and then once we got so far laying the boards then we moved it back to the other side.

Can you believe Wade and I got through this whole project without one single argument?
I don't have any pictures of the finished floor yet because I want to wait until I have everything cleaned up and put back together. With having to work all day it could take the rest of the week before I get that done.

Now if you will excuse me I need to go rest my achy muscles. Once I recuperate I think I need to get busy with that Wii Fit and get myself in shape.

Ooooh, that is going to be lovely!! We laid a wood floor--complete with pneumatic nail gun--and I couldn't stand up straight for days! I feel your pain. Ugh. I find we don't fight on projects when neither of us has done it before. It's the little projects that we nearly kill each other over!

Wish I was there to see it in person.

The floor is fabulous! Good job, you two. Oh, I mean three including your supervisor, Duke :)

From what I can see, it looks great. Obviously your fabulous supervisor was the reason it came out so well.

It's looking very good! Your house reminds me of ours! We have a small three bedroom ranch. My DIL just got the Wii and Wii Fit for Christmas. They now have some kind of cardio version out.

Lin, it is except right now with all the saw dust all over it's not real attractive.

Amanda, sooner or later you will be :)

sharkbytes they are fabulous, so much nicer than carpet

LDH oh yes don't foret the supervisor...lol

anne couldn't have done it without him

donna I think you're right. I used to love carpet but now I just can't stand it

Christie thanks

ginny this is a 3 bedroom but it's a tri level. It's not real big but it's home :) I just got mine too and haven't had much time to play with it yet.

Your floor looks great and you have the cutest snooperviser ever! When I first started reading the post I asked my husband "do you think we could ever lay a wood floor together?" and his response was "without arguing?". Then I read your line where you and Wade didn't argue at all. LOL Guess that wouldn't apply to us!

Ann, you sure are an inspiration. I can't wait to start some work on my house. Looking forward to the finished floor.

Sandee said...

I love your new floor, it's beautiful. So much easier to keep clean than carpet too. One of these days we'll do the same here. I've got lots of flooring though.

Duke is a wonderful snoopervisor. I would hire him in a minute.

Have a terrific day and I hope you heal up soon. My best to the little man. :)

The new floor looks SO good! Well worth the hard work. You'll really enjoy it once it's all dusted and your muscles recupe.

mm not at all like my ex and I wallpapering..:)

A wonderful job you have both done Ann. Always the ever curious - are you laying it on top of concrete or floorboards? The reason that I ask is that in Britain some people choose to lay wooden floors over either and well I just wondered. It looks nice and rich and solid - you will have your very own dance floor and be able to tango as you polish!!

That's a beautiful floor... and it sure looks like hardwork :) i am not very handy when it comes to house fixing. You both did a good job... Duke included :)

Happy New Year to you Ann, Wade and lil ole Duke!

That is a big job. My neighbor did that, so I understand why you have some sore muscles. You need to go back to work to get rested up. I bet it is gorgeous. And Duke, you did a super job of supervising. Well done. Take care.

LOVE the flooring!! We have slowly been changing every floor in the house to wood too. It's so easy to keep clean.
We always do it ourselves too :) Sometimes it really is a test on the marriage, but we've survived so far - lol.

Nice tiling! Can't wait to see the finished version! Thank you Duke!

MadSnapper said...

the floor is beautiful, i like those boards a lot and your chairs. duke looks like he was a big help. we did the same thing when hubby put down ceramic tile in our kitchen 10 years ago. the stove and fridge had to be moved to one end and tile laid, wait for it to set, move them back, do the other end, wait for set, move fridge and stove back to put grout, you get the picture by now. lots of work but worth it. waiting for the final shot

All those sore muscles will have been worth it when the job is done! It's great to see all your progress!

It looks awesome! We own a floor covering store and my husband does the installation so I know how tiring it can be. Good going on no fights! I thought my husband and I would kill each other one time when we wallpapered a tiny bathroom. LOL

Wow! This floor looks amazing. Putting floors down is so hard on the knees and lower back. It makes you feel so stiff the next day. Been there done that on more occasions than I care to count. It will be so rewarding when it is all cleaned up everything in it's place and you are siting there reveling in yours and your husbands labor. Enjoy! It will be rewarding for so many years to come.

I almost asked about the tempers yesterday.Looks almost like hickory, a lovely color.I put it in a new home 3 homes ago, and had it more that half the downstairs. They make special mops to clean it.

kloggers it's laid on top of plywood sub flooring. I wonder if I could get Wade to do the tango...lol
