Duke in black and white

Just a couple of shots of Duke that I converted to black and white.

On this second one he had a very long piece of fur covering his left eye. I found another picture of him in his better groomed days and cut the eyes out and pasted them on to this picture. Don't worry he didn't feel a thing. It could be a lack of perfect vision but I couldn't tell when I was done with it.

You did a really great job. You can't even tell you did anything with it. Duke, of course, looks gorgeous. My youngest daughter is sitting next to me and she says he is soooo cute!

Duke is handsome in any color. If you hadn't told me about the edit I would have never known. Well, I still can't tell. Just saying.

Have a terrific day. My very best to Duke. :)

This gives his fur a silverish quality. It looks good on him.

Duke is such a handsome devil! I love the second pic... (I agree, even after you mentioning it, couldn't tell you altered it)

I usually don't care for color pics turned to b/w (I do very much like original b/w tho) but these came out very very well indeed! Never would have guessed at the eye editing either.

Love the B&W tone! Looks like you used gel to get Duke's fur all cute a spike-y in the first shot!

No matter what color (or lack thereof), Duke is just the cutest! Great job on the eye edits too!

Glad no Dukes were harmed in the making of this post!

Adorable pictures!

I like the top one best. It makes Duke really pop out from the background.

Do you bring him to dog saloon or you just trimmed him yourself? Nice B/W

Great job, Ann! The images are very clean and I can see all the details. Duke looks awesome both in colors and in black and white.

I really hate to tell you this. For already brag on you way too much. Nonetheless, those are absolutely portrait-quality pictures, like the kind that can cost hundreds of dollars.

Great shots, Ann - he looks even whiter than usual! Black and white is still a really great medium - adds so much character.

I kept looking and looking. But I couldn't see where you fixed up the picture. You are marvelous. And Duke looks good in black and white. Of course Duke is Duke and always cute.

Ham it up Duke, I always enjoy looking what a photo does in black and white. I used to buy B&W film and play with it a lot.

Sure you can't be serious?!?!? How in the world did you do that? I absolutely cannot tell a difference at all. Wouldn't that just be perfect for when Louis won't stay still and look at the camer? I could just replace his head with a photo where he was looking at me :-o

I love black and white. You did a wonderful job! Duke has such an expressive face:)

Wow that is amazing. I can't tell at all where you cut and pasted. Duke as always is sooo cute.

Sallie, thank you

Anne thanks, Duke seems to be very photogenic when he sits still. I have to agree with you daughter, he is a cutie :)

Sandee yes he sure is, black and white is just kind of natural for him though

Roschelle thanks, I liked that one too, have it printed out and sitting on my desk

Ratty, I hadn't noticed but now that you mention it yes it does

Love cocktails and puppydog tails, he sure is but he just can't help it :)

Jane thanks, Duke loves the compliments

Grace, I don't have a good enough eye to tell the difference from a picture taken in b&w and one that's been converted. I do love the look of them though

LDH no gel needed, he just gets that look sometimes

Beaded tail I'll agree with you, he's cute no matter what

Lin he would make a better model if he would sit still more often :)

bossy betty lol, wouldn't dream of it.

sharkbytes yes it does doesn't it

vanilla seven he's gone to groomers, we bought some clippers to try and do it ourselves but they didn't seem to work very well. should have bought a better one probably

sugar we think the same about you sugar

jean thank you. Actually I think that would be kind of fun but I doubt many around this area would pay much for them.

Junezach thanks, glad you like them

fullet thank you, Duke is a good subject for black and white

fishhawk you're going to spoil me with all the compliments. So you wanna buy a portrait of Duke? I'll cut you a break on the price since you're so kind to me :)

Philippa thanks I may have played with the levels on the picture to make him come out a little whiter or it could be just because of the conversion. I like it when he looks really white :)

Daisy I know what you mean, I just love his little white face :)

Sheri thanks and I just may end up framing both of them

Catherine I had better luck with the eye on this one that on other photos I've tried to do it with. Glad it came out as good as it did

Russ I looked quite a while at it to see if I had missed anything. Sometimes I don't notice after staring at it for so long

out on the prairie I always love how black and white can totally change the feel of a picture.

DSS yep, serious. Just a little photoshop magic...lol You can do that with the whole head it's just a matter of getting the proportions and perspective right.

Angela me too, color is nice but black and white seems more dramatic sometimes

b boys mom thanks, I was hoping I hadn't missed something

Those are just great! I cannot get over how seeing a photo in B/W just seems to bring out emotion and feelings.

Joanne Olivieri said...

Duke is just the cutest little thing ever... Love that second shot. That should be blow up into a poster :)

Ann said...

Miawa, the only bad pictures of Duke are the ones where he won't sit still :)

the booker man yes I can cut out eyes and glue em back on :) Duke didn't feel a thing, I don't think he even realized I was doing it

tahtimbo I totally agree with you. Black and white has a way of making things look more dramatic at least in my opinion

poetic shutterbug when I saw the second picture I thought that with the face he was making it looked like one of those sad public announcement posters for animal abuse. The eyes on it just keep drawing me in
